Can anyone remember this documentary / series from years ago ?

Couldn't sleep last night and it popped into my head for some reason. I've been googling today but getting nowhere.

It was about wealthy families financially taking on teenagers from poorer backgrounds to give them advantages in life. I think some paid for private schooling, maybe even boarding school. I remember the last episode being really sad because the girl from the poorer background had started to distance herself from her mum and she was really struggling.

This was on about 10/12 years ago. But can't find a thing !

Was it how the other half live? There was a woman on there who was a single mum and had a degree but couldn't get a job in the field and they created a role for her in their business?

I'm off to Google kittens ! But from what I remember it focussed on teenagers and enhancing their future.

I remember that programme but not the name.

I'll have a think.

It was really good

I think it had several different episodes and I remember one where they paid for children to go to boarding school. They sort of sponsored the families to improve their lives, it was 2010 I think.

Yes, I remember it, but I can't remember the name.

One of the boys stayed on a further term on some sort of bursary arrangement? And there was a bit about salad being served at every meal by his host family?

There's a local lad who was on a series like this who stayed permanently at a private boarding school on a scholarship and had all sorts of opportunites that would have been far less likely at his original school.

@WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo Grin I think I watch too much tv. But I do love documentaries etc. Does anyone remember an old one called to Courtney with love about a girl called becky who was 16 and dying of cancer and she had a 2yr old. Her sister filmed her last months it was so sad.

I've found a series 'School Swap - the class divide' on google, but it's not the one I remembered

(Still hunting)

I think the programme you are thinking of was called second chance not how the other half live (which was more about helping the whole family).

It is heartbreaking, Courtney must be 18 now I hope she is ok. It's on daily motion.

I remember being amazed by the Teenage Diaries episode about the New Age traveller girl. I was so envious of her way of life!

If you like documentaries try BBC iPlayer.

I'm working through the 40 odd programmes by Louis Theroux. Fascinating.

@ouch321 I've watched all of those.

The real stories ones are fab, they're all on YouTube.
