Any series? I think she's a bit young for some of those. Her reading age is 6th form but she's only 11...

Francis Hardinge's The Lie Tree
Cressida Cowell's Wizards of Once series
Eva Ibbotsen's Journey to the River Sea, or The Star of Kazan
I assume she's read all the various Rick Riordan series?
And the Artemis Fowl series?
And the Skullduggery Pleasant series?
Michelle Paver's Wolf Brother series.

Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising series. Anything by Diana Wynne Jones. The Septimus Heap series (7 books). Garth Nix's Abhorsen books. Rick Riordan's stuff. Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books (but stop before I Shall Wear Midnight, it's too dark for 11).

At that age I liked little women series and what Katy did series.

The Eagle of the Ninth, The Silver Branch etc series by Rosemary Sutcliff.
The Dark is Rising sequence by Susan Cooper. The Dark is Rising is the second book, and it’s fun to read that in December, so you can read it on the right days!

DS and I just read I Shall Wear Midnight, it was fine. Serious, yes, but he is mature and we read it together.

Diana Wynne Jones book. All of them, though some are more mature than others. I loved them at that age and was also a very advanced reader.

The Box of Delights is also excellent to read in December!

Seconding Garth Nix’s Abhorsen books!

Fire & Hemlock (Diana Wynne Jones)
Everworld series (it has a few swear words, deals with a lot of teen themes, you may want to read first to see if it’s suitable)
Malorie Blackman’s work
Tamora Pierce’s Alanna: The First Adventure, it’s book 1 in the lioness series

Report
PhilODox · 26/09/2020 22:48

Some Malorie Blackman stuff isn't suitable for an 11yo! (e.g. noughts and crosses) Pig Heart Boy, and Thief are.
