Yes me. I normally do anyway, but offset it by looking forward to dds birthday ( probably won't be allowed to see her), then Christmas( can't see the point of it this year.)
Also my art and exercise class, Wi all not running. No holiday to look forward to.
There are people far worse off than me, but you asked and that's my little personal misery!

Well, it's going to be grimmer than usual, make no mistake.

I’m dreading winter too, this year even more so than usual.
We’ve been really careful about only meeting up with vulnerable family members outside where we can socially distance and reduce the risk of transmission. This was fine in the summer months but not much fun or even possible in the cold and rain.
Plus, everything seems more hopeless and depressing when the skies are grey.
Usually the cold winter nights are brightened by thinking about and planning next year’s holiday, but it all seems so fragile at the
moment and who knows if a foreign holiday next year will even be possible?
Bleurgh. Bloody Covid.

Yep. Always hate winter but this year seems bleak. Single mum to two very small children. If we aren't allowed to see friends soon, life will be very lonely. Have been suffering from long Covid since March and only now really starting to recover. Children's father has lost his job so money problems looming. Family too far away for a day trip and too many of us to be allowed to meet all together now. Dreading Christmas on my own with the children.

Dreading it here too. Winter is always a struggle for me as I'm full up of deadlines, it's always dark, I ALWAYS pick something up, and I'm low income so affording so much heating is an issue but combined with the prospect of COVID restrictions and not being able to see family and friends, it feels grim.

Yes, I detest it. I suffer with SAD, and the fact that people expect you to be all happy and jolly at Christmas makes it worse for me. My family act like Christmas is the best thing in the world, and I just wish I could be a child again when it actually last made me happy.

We had our garden done this summer and it has made SUCH a difference to me being able to sit out in the little areas we've created, so I know that the ability to be outside directly impacts my mental health .. not so beneficial in the rain!

I also struggle with SAD so have ordered a patio heater and a few warm blankets, in the hope evenings can be spent outside with candles etc. As long as it doesn't rain all winter... cold I can cope with but the grey and rain is soul destroying.

Another SAD sufferer and I'm not looking forward to it one bit. I live in Scotland and the short days really get to me. I'm not coping well with it being dark so early already. If the weather is dry and sunny it won't be so bad, but a long, wet winter will affect my already fragile mental health.

Only if the schools close again. I can deal with anything else apart from that.

I'm not this year strangely. Whilst covid restrictions are grim, I now work so much closer to home (a 5 minute walk as opposed to a 70 minute drive) that the lack of commute means I'm hoping for snow. We're all within a mile of each other and that makes life loads easier. We've downgraded our house so have more money to buy nice food and treat the children. We've a lot of decorating/work going on at the moment which should be finished by the start of December so I'm hoping we can relax after that. I'll not be able to host lunch and tea if we continue going to way we are, but we'll have a Christmas zoom at the very least.

I live in a country where it snows for 7 months of the year. The snow is often so high on the pavements that I couldn’t get my pushchair out of the door even if I wanted to take the kids for a walk in -25 degrees weather. Normally we would go somewhere indoors by car, but due to Covid there is nowhere to go now. There is also the hassle of getting hats, gloves, boots and snowsuits on and off two wriggling babies every time we get in and out of the car (the snowsuits are too bulky to wear in their car seats, so we have no choice but to get them dressed and undressed outside the car, often in a blizzard!) or go in and out of a building. And then having them wait impatiently while I dig the car out of the snow every time we park. Many places ask you to take your shoes off when you come in, even though the floor is wet and slushy from all the melted snow, so you end up being in cold wet socks the whole time.

Yes I am dreading winter.

The thought of spending winter back home in England sounds like a dream compared to this!

I usually embrace every season, I love the shifts and the change and christmas especially is a wonderful time of year here. I have a sense of low level dread about this one though, never had it before, just a sense of this is going to be extremely challenging. So we are preparing for it now, both mentally and stocking up. It won't last forever, spring will burst through in the new year, but yes I feel the same.

Just think how amazing spring is going to feel next year, especially if it comes with a vaccine and a final solution to the world's problems.

I am trying to embrace the slower more restful part of winter, the cosier aspect and try to build in some fun and some joy as much as possible.

I'm going to try and embrace the hygge thing. Candles, fire, blankets, books. Some Switch games for the family. Good outdoor clothing for walks.

Yes. Another SAD sufferer here. I hate the dark, the grey and thevdays getting longer.

I'm going to buy the kids some extra warm winter coats etc. Did also consider patio heater/fire pit but garden furniture is pretty crap - still saving for fancy garden sofa.

REALLY hope its not too rainy so at least we can get outside. Thing thatcdepresses me mist is prosoect of Christmas without my parents and siblings - would be the first... but trying not to think too far ahead....

No-one mentioning the joys of Brexit yet.

We are time-tabled for delays and breaks in the supply of foods and medicine, among the rest of the shit storm. Johnson and Gove refused to request an extension. On your behalf.

Odd though, we're about to suffer the worst COVID-related outcome economically from among ALL our European 'friends', have the worst death rate and infection rate, chose to spend gazillions on border infrastructure, threaten stability in N. Ireland, give Scots nationalists and boost, turn Kent into Kent sur-la-Mere, refuse a chance to stagger the impacts.......

but we still give the gang of corrupt and venal chancers the opportunity to do it to us. With little complaint.

...and yet

Not sure that's entirely relevant to disliking Winter 😂 It's definitely not solvable by hot chocolate/blankets/snuggling by the fire as is often touted on these threads

I'm looking forward to October and November - dissertation handed in, DS1 at school, still on mat leave with DS2, I'm going to have a rest!

December - March I imagine will be tiring though. I'm hoping for some snow though, much better than alternating horizontal rain or gray mist (usual winter weather by the seaside)
