Lighthearted and for fun 🙂

If you were to comment on this thread with things you might have been thinking 20 years ago, what would you say?

Mine would be something like:

Oh it's raining, I'll probably be in for breaktime this morning then. Hopefully there's no maths test this afternoon! I really need to practice my times tables more...

I would be sat in the office in a town I no longer live in, doing a job I absolutely loved. I was married a year and all loved up (I still am) wondering what I would be having for lunch and hoping it stopped raining before then.

But clearly I am a lot older than you Grin and I was the youngest in the office at 26! I was feeling lucky to be surrounded by such a great group of people. I had started there only 6 months earlier so had got into the stride of it and no longer had to ask lots of advice on how to do such and such.

20 years ago : terrible morning sickness but so excited by the 12 week scan photo.
Worrying a bit about where to get petrol from because of the petrol strikes.

I would have been planning our wedding and wondering if I would ever get to the end of my nursing course.

Now married 20 years in December and still working as a nurse.

I would have been attending the same small village primary school I dropped my own children off at this morning.

I was with my 'significant' Ex. Very happy. Loving life. Running our own business- still relieved that the Y2K bug didn't turn the world (and our business) upside down. I was living overseas so looking forward to summer & kayaking most evenings, camping on remote beaches & working on becoming parents.

Two years after that, it had all turned to utter shit, but 2000 was a good year.

I would have been in Tenerife on my first holiday with my boyfriend (now DH) worrying if Dad would be able to get fuel to pick us up from the airport because of the petrol strikes.

Oh god, I would really hate to go back 20 years. I would have been 12. Bad childhood. Thank god that's over and I'm finally an adult! 2020 is brilliant compared to 2000 Grin

That’s made me laugh as it’s literally what my daughter said this morning when she saw it’s been raining

It was around about this time of year, 20 years ago that I had my first scan (first pregnancy after trying for 4 years), and found two little heartbeats.

I was 8 and totally in love with my first sibling who was born a couple of months ago. I thought all my dreams had come true!
Until all the rest came along and I wasn’t quite so enamoured with how many of us there suddenly were!

My first week at uni where I was horribly shy and working 60 hours a week in a job I'd much rather have been in than at uni. I didn't want to party (never really was a big drinker) so took a while to make friends and one of my best friend from school was being horribly abused by his older bf while the other moved to England for uni. I was probably thinking how soon will this be over so I can go back to work

Probably letting my mind wander in a university lecture and wondering what to make for dinner (back when I only had to please myself and cooking was fun and creative)

Some point around now, nervous about joining a particular society unaware that I was about to meet DH Grin

I was living through the worst of my abusive marriage.

I'd probably be at work worrying he was at home drinking again, and wondering what mood he'd be in when I got back.

20 years ago I had just turned 18 a few days ago.
I was in my last year of secondary school (not in the UK) and devided my attention between boys I fancied, exams and partying with my friends. It was an amazing time!

I would probably be saying something super PFB about my DD and childcare - she was 2 and I was working part time and I HATED the juggling of work and childcare.

My youngest is now 15 and I don't really have any childcare issues anymore - it seems like this was the main bane of my life for so many years and now it just isn't a factor anymore.
