Does anyone have a failsafe brownie recipe I can use please? Just a generic one that I can drop in fillings (nuts and cherries etc) I'm sick of looking for recipes online with endless pop ups, videos, cookie requests, banal life stories before you get to recipe etc!

Thank you kindlyGrin

Betty Crocker chocolate fudge brownie mix.
Even my friends who are avid cake bakers use that mix!

Search 'Best ever chocolate brownies' on the bbc good food website. I would link, but I don't know how...
Easy to make and an absolute winner every time!

Humming Bird Bakery has a good recipe that I'm sure you can find online. Works every time.

These are lovely. I only use 2/3rds of her quantities tho - and a smaller tin

Nigella Lawson's one is the one we use.

This recipe has never failed. And anytime I make them, people ask for the recipe

Baking Mad have one that uses just 50g of flour. Dead easy to make. It's really versatile. I change the types of sugar, chocolate and add dried fruit or nuts.

I also make it with gluten free flour.

It freezes well too.

I've made a lot of brownies in my life and I 100% agree with the BBC best ever recommendation.

Nigel Slater has an amazing, rich, chocolate brownie recipe. Bit of a faff to make but best I've tried (so far 😉)

Just adding my vote to these. Yum!

I use the nigella Lawson one in the how to be a domestic goddess book. It makes loads but it's easy to scale down. They also freeze really well if you make the whole recipe.
Someone on here once linked to a recipe by Alice medrich (? I think) that uses cocoa rather than chocolate and they are very good too, and a fair bit cheaper than using good chocolate.

Yep BBC best ever brownies as others have suggested! You can leave out or substitute the chocolate chunks.

VetOnCall · 16/09/2020 19:13

The BBC best ever ones, they are amazing. I add roughly chopped chunks of milk and white chocolate to the mix and the white ones kind of caramelise when it's baked.

^ should say I add extra chunks of milk and white chocolate to the mix. 50g of each wasn't quite enough for me. Other than that the recipe is perfect though.

I really like the Laura in the Kitchen one

the only proviso is scale the recipe up by 50% ...otherwise they are skimpy in an 8x8 tin,, and still only cook for recommended time.

It's brilliant for adapting ...creme eggs/nuts/extra chocolate/maltesers/after eights
