The hormones that make you crazy

I am completely and scarily hormonal and it is weirding me out. I’m crying at nothing, arguing passionately about stuff I know I don’t really care about, so touchy etc. I can’t predict my own responses to things So no way anyone else could.

What do you do when your hormones are wonky? I am genuinely frightened about my interaction with people. I was borderline rude to my boss. Any suggestions for how to chill this out fast?

How do you know it is hormone-caused behaviour? It makes me somewhat uneasy when women blame their behaviour on hormones, rather than owning it, especially when that behaviour challenges, rather than playing nice and going along with things.

I mean, are you sure this is you being 'touchy' etc, rather than actually reacting to provocation or poor treatment by others, or crying because you're unhappy about something?

Yeah, it is definitely hormones - and I own my hormones.

My normal reactions are off and unpredictable. I am in my 40s so I am pretty used to how I behave - which is generally professional and measured at all other times. Right now I am unstable. I feel a bit out of control, and the feeling is physical.

My hormones feel much stronger as I’ve got older, PMT seems to be a “thing” in a way it never was before

Taking evening primrose oil helped massively

Period Power by Maisie Hill might be interesting, talks about the hormones throughout your cycle, including the good ones.
Maybe track your cycle too if you don't already.

I take the pill for this, I was ridiculous once a month and could only see it in hindsight. It was embarrassing and getting worse. Might be worth considering?

Thanks, I will look up Period Power. I think I do have some Evening Primrose (not sure it is in date).

Yes, yes to only seeing behaviour in hindsight. At the time my crazy behaviour seems proportionate and utterly reasonable. It is not reasonable.
