How many weetabix do you have?

Dd age 13 just had six. I told her a normal portion is 2 (that’s what I would have) and 3 if you are extra hungry. Am I right?

I have two, with milk and lots of fruit.
DD (1) has one but most ends up on the floor Grin

You’re definitely right! She is growing so probably more acceptable for her, but 6 seems like a lot and that’s coming from a chronic overeater!

I have 1, 2 if I’m hungry or pregnant 😂
2 is normal. 6 is crazy!

One with a few shredded wheats on top, so it’s not all pap.

2 max. My son (also 13) has taken to eating 3 or 4 with a pot of yoghurt in the evenings. He’s actually getting fat (since lockdown) so I’ve told him he needs max 2 with milk and then to leave it an hour to see if he’s still really hungry. I think he gets moments of utter ravenousness and has forgotten about stopping when he’s full.

1 or 2. Wfh 1 as then I'm more hungrier for lunch as I like to look forward to lunch

2 with a chopped banana

I remember being ravenous as a teenager though, would shoot up an inch after feeling like that. Probably best not to make 6 a habit though

2 for me but my 5 year old also has 2. In my experience the sky is the limit to how much teenagers can eat!

Growing teenage boys (and girls) eat loads. You'd better get used to it.

In my 30s. I'd eat 3 or 4. I think I read on a box somewhere not to consume more than 4, I could be totally making this up as it was a few years ago and someone had made a comment about me eating 4 for breakfast at work. Might be to do with high fibre content?

2 plus cornflakes!

Report
Doje · 11/09/2020 08:53

Three! I thought that was normal..... two wouldn't even nearly fill me up.

1 with banana, and that fills me up, can't imagine eating more than 2, but my teens would probably manage 3, esp ds who is going through a ravenous raid-the-cupboards phase. Much toast is consumed at the moment.

Rather than six Weetabix, I would encourage variety. So two Weetabix with a banana or other chopped fruit, and a yoghurt.
It will give her a more well rounded balanced diet with different nutrients.

Two with fruit. Three makes me spend all day on the toilet. It's very much my Go To If I Need the Loo cereal.

My teenaged brother used to have 4 with warm milk as an after dinner snack.

6 weetabix is about 390 cals, so for an active growing girl not excessive at all, if the rest of the day’s eating is balanced.

Is she very hungry by lunchtime?
Is she overweight?

Would she prefer a more protein-rich breakfast?

boiled egg, wholewheat toast, Banana?

I give dc one and a half each. 2 is an adult portion.

I have one as not a big eater in the morning. But son has 2, which is probably a lot for a 3 year old. If she is slim and it is a one off I would be surprised but not bothered about it.

From the Weetabix website:

However, balance is the key, and you can have too much of a good thing. Weetabix is fortified with certain vitamins and minerals and if eaten to excess, then you could be taking in too much of these nutrients.

We would recommend that an adult eats no more than four (4) Weetabix biscuits per day. Taking this amount will leave room for you to eat other foods and have some variety in your diet.

For advice regarding children's intake, please contact your health visitor or GP.

That’s a good idea to have variety but she is not keen on toast and I can’t see her eating fruit for breakfast. Possibly yogurt or something.

My 10 month old can easily polish off a whole one with extra bits for breakfast and I wouldn't be surprised if she could take on another. With that in mind I'd say up to 3 is a decent adult portion. But I can't stand the things so your DD can have my portion Grin

My 18 month old has 2 with milk along with a yoghurt and fruit for breakfast so I imagine by the time he reaches that age he will be the same lol
