Can’t believe it. Remember it like it was yesterday.

I remember it coming on the ITV or BBC News, I thought it was a scene from a new movie until I quickly realised it was indeed reality.

Doesn’t it just sadden you that all those lives are over for nothing? It’s just heartbreaking.

Also remember it like yesterday. I was expecting dd and exhausted. I heard the news of the first plane on the 2pm news and thought nothing of it. I got back to work and by then the second plane had hit.

Watched it all unfold later. Unforgettable.

I was 5 months pregnant with my first baby and working at a newspaper at the time. I had to call the printers and tell them to stop the press.

It was crazy and heartbreaking as it unfolded and then after I just sat and thought "what kind of a world am I bringing this baby into?!"

My DS was only about 5 months old at the time.

It really was an unforgettable day. I just can’t get those poor souls out of my head. They should still be here living their lives today.

I remember watching the news. I was off to uni a few weeks later. It was pre widespread internet/internet phones. I remember my Mum ringing from work asking what was going on (they had heard on the radio a plane had hit) and we all thought terrible accident and then I remember being on the phone to her as the 2nd plane hit and her relaying it to her colleagues, and suddenly realising that something far more sinister was happening.

It was a Tuesday afternoon I was at work and it came over the radio that a plane had crashed into the world trade centre - we assumed it was a small bi- plane lost in the fog

@GreenGoldRed I was shortly off to uni too, about to start my second year (just realised it was 19 years ago and I was 19 at the time!)

I was working part time in a coffee shop and a customer came in and asked if I had seen the news & told me what had happened, I was so shocked. I went next door to another shop afterwards and saw the videos of the planes crashing into the tower - truly awful & still such a poignant image.

I lived and worked about 40 miles from NYC (still do) and was at work that day. I was supposed to go into the city later that evening for a meeting the following day. We didn't have a TV in our office. Boss sent us home. I got there and just sat in front of the TV for hours, completely stunned.

I'd found out two weeks earlier that I was pregnant (my first) and just couldn't believe I was going to bring a baby into this world.

Still can barely watch footage from that day. It was a horrible, sickening time.

I remember that day also and I remember my friends dad was supposed to be working in the building that day but didn't go in for some reason.

It really was like a movie scene.
I had taken a day off work sick, and was laying on the sofa watching some crappy American disaster movie when the channel changed to sky news. I thought it was part of the film. Only after half an hour or so I realised.
I remember crying my eyes out. It's something that I will never forget. Heartbreaking seeing it happen.

I remember driving home from work and Radio 1 had no charm they just played music which seemed so ominous.

We were all calling relatives, we thought we were all about to be deployed.

I saw the first reports on this newfangled BBC website and American colleagues asked me to look for more info online. Ended up with half the office watching in silence.

Even then while it was tragic - my friend's fiance died - we were mostly more worried about war in the Middle East and Afghanistan kicking off. Which did, resulting in many more lives lost.

I was at work, busy with all the peace'n'disarmament news briefing I was working on. As I worked on pulling the forthcoming edition of our journal I had to write an explanation for our contributors. This ended up as my organisation's position statement. It went out without my name but it remains one of the things I am the most proud of in my adult life although only me and 2 other people know who wrote it.

The next day I grabbed a London Evening Standard as usual on my way home. It's safely stashed away. If we cannot learn from these things then what are we?

So much of the world shifted that day, but also so much didn't.

I wonder if the reactionary nationalistic genie was unleashed that day, and wish so much that it had never happened.

I watched it live on tv working for an American company in London. I spent the evening with a friend whose brother in law worked in top floors of the wtc....of course he was lost...but I remember trying to tell her there was always hope...but really there wasn’t....think of the consequences - wars in Iraq/ Afghan ....what would the world be like if it hadn’t happened?

I remember that day well. I was living in a homeless hostel and had just a crappy 14inch CRT TV and had just switched it on to watch a Birds of a Feather! Alas it wasn't on and I was not happy! Then I realised what had actually happened and it began to sink in....
I was worried sick too, as my parents were flying over that area towards Canada when it happened ☹️

I was at uni and to be honest not very worldly. I remember being horrified by the suffering and the act itself but didn’t have real awareness of the probable ramifications on the world stage. I didn’t realise it was an event that would divide time: now it feels like there was a world before 9/11 and a world post 9/11.

I can remember that day so clearly. I was having a quiet morning recovering from my lack of sleep with 2 yeR old . Watched 1pm news ..all very boring.Fell asleep and then went to collect older children from school...by then it was all unfolding. Took the kids to a swimming class and the 2nd tower had collapsed. Am not sure how I drove home !! The horror of that day for everyone involved haunts me . I went to New York in 2017 and ground zero is the most amazing tranquil place 💕

We were in an office overlooking Canary Wharf in London which only had a couple of towers then and were terrified it was going to be attacked. We were glued to the TV's - a real life horror story. I moved a year ago and found a copy of the Guardian from the next day - pictures I'll never forget. It still seems so vivid.

We travelled to Ground Zero the following April - it was all rubble still and spread over a huge area. I'll always remember the black woman covered in ash - caught live fleeing the collapse. She later died in her 40's I think of lung cancer. So sad.

Yes 19 years, in a few hours time.

I was living overseas. It was about 6am & my mum rang me to see if I had the news on I was a bit grumpy about it (as I never out the TV on in the morning & she should know that!) anyway I put it in & we watched the repeats of the first plane, and then the second hit. Just couldn't comprehend what was going on. We worked for ourselves from home in those days & I don't think the tv went off again for days.

The footage was shocking😢
