Does anyone know a place / hotel like this one I imagined?

It’s like a deep memory that gives me A Feeling but is more likely based on books I read as a child than reality.

It’s a hotel by the coast, a rambling probably Victorian place, big windows, possibly a verandah. Surrounded by gardens, leading down to the beach. bonus points for a monkey puzzle tree but big firs would do. Hidden garden bits would be the cherry on the cake.

Doesn’t need to be fancy. But comfortable. Child friendly but not with “kid stuff” going on.

Genteel and old fashioned but accommodating.

It’s a bit like the one in the Witches but with more mystery 😂

We need a break. I’ve had 4 days off in total since Christmas. The kids have had the shittest lockdown and “school
Holiday”. They’ve never been to a hotel, they really want to go to one, they’re 10 and 8. Easy kids, easily pleased, they like being outdoors and a good pub lunch. I need to chill out. They need some time with me. I want to take them away for a couple of days in October half term. Somewhere comfy and easy.

Oh there's one like that at Ilfracome or similar. I'll put my thinking cap on.

Sounds like an Agatha Christie adaptation location (before any without any bad stuff obviously). Hmm thinking cap on.

It's not this one as I'm sure the one I saw is on the south coast near Bournemouth

This is burgh island - and it does have a monkey puzzle Grin

Laurie did you mean to link?

Moonfleet manor looks perfect and taps into my children’s books vibe but no availability in Oct half term. Googling the others

Also THRILLED that I’ve had replies and suggestions - thank you so much 😊

How about The Beach House overlooking The Needles with a pebbled beach at the foot of the garden, Sandy beaches nearby and The New Forest a mile or so away. Oh, and the Georgian town of Lymington for Saturday morning mooching around the market. Crabbing nearby for the children and you could always pop to Paultons Park (Peppa Pig world) and great rides for older kids too.

Fowey Hall Hotel ticks pretty much all your boxes! Went to a wedding there, and stayed there 2 nights - was absolutely lovely.
