What little things do you never pay full price for - even though you could.?.

A friend and I were discussing Charlie Bigham meals - and I said I only buy them when they are reduced. She agreed. We are both well paid professionals who can afford an expensive ready meal.

But we can't bring ourselves too....

Coffee. The one we like is about £6 at full price but I only buy it when it's on offer. Luckily it's always on offer somewhere! Also Dominos.

I won't buy branded cereals. Generic ones are just as good.

I could afford to buy branded groceries and toiletries but almost always buy supermarket own brand. I couldn't justify the extra cost of paying for the label. The exceptions tend to be if there are no decent vegan/ cruelty free supermarket equivalents.



I enjoy running and going to the gym. Most of my stuff is from M and S or Tesco. I do have a few tops and pairs of shorts from outdoor shops but they were all bought in sales. With the real big names in sportswear and yoga gear, I can't imagine even paying sale prices as the starting prices are so high (even 50% off would be more than I'd be happy to pay.)

They always have deals on both above, usually at least 50% off. I'd never pay full price.

I also only get Indian Takeaways on Thursdays or Sundays as that's when they do their cheap deals. Why would I pay double on a Saturday? I'd rather order a different cuisine.

DH &I between us have discount cards for pretty much every major outdoor shop (through work, volunteering and clubs). We carefully price up and send the correct person to each shop for maximum discount. It has saved us several hundred pounds this year.

Books! I buy 99% of my books from charity shops, usually for between 10p and a £1. I pass them on to friends or redonate. I can't bring myself to spend £££££s on a single book when I can get ten for the same price!

Mine are probably a bit ridiculous as they’re grocery items, brands we prefer and we can definitely afford them:

Charleville cheddar
Belvita breakfast biscuits/bakes
Dolmio stir in sauces (I mostly make our pasta sauces but I do like an occasional stir in!)

I think it’s because these brands are on special so often that I’m used to stocking up at the lower price so if we run low and they’re only available at full price I balk at paying it. I’ve literally walked away going nope, not paying that because of €1 price difference yet I regularly buy more expensive things such as clothes, shoes, toys, makeup etc without waiting for reductions.

DP will only buy Club biscuits when they're on special. It doesn't matter if they're only 10p more when full price he still refuses to buy them.

I download the apps for shops that I like, sign up etc and I see what I like and wait for the sale, when you've done it as long as I have you know when theres a sale due and when you sign up with your email you get first dibs, like the sale starts at midnight online, I'll stay up to get a bargain.
I get some really nice xmas gifts this way, handbags, scarves etc.
I get sooo excited

Slightly off topic but there are loads of things where I'm incredulous of any one paying the supposed full price. Anything in dfs, anything in debenhams, anything in sports direct, £25 for a pack of sharpies in WHsmiths, dairy milk (I only buy the big bars when they're £1.....which is nearly all the time!) Etc
