Looking for books for DS(9)

DS(9) is a good reader and I'm looking for suggestions of books to get for him that are engaging and challenging without being full of content he's not ready for.
He's finished all the children Roald Dahl and Harry Potters, not that keen on David Walliams but liked Tom Fletchers books for older kids - any suggestions?

Ds (8) is working his way through the horrible histories books. I love it when he comes up to me to read a fact he can't believe.

Seconding the Percy Jackson series. My DS (now 12) loved them when he was 9 and so goes back to them now.

The David Baddiel books (e.g. The Parent Agency) went down well too.

Alex Rider series by Anthology Horowitz is usually a hit at that age.

The series that got my 9 year old reading at the start of lockdown was Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland. He has now moved onto Warrior Cats by Erin Hunter.

David Baddiel books popular with DS1, also my family and other animals, the Murder most unladylike books, the chrestomanci books by Diana Wynne Jones, horrible histories, a letter for the king by tonke dragt, d'aulaire's greek and Norse myths. Trying to get him into the Redwall books by Brian Jaques at the moment.
