It looks like a cross between a cricket and a spider!!! I'm guessing it's more scared of us than we are of it, but really...

Oh lordy, are you in the UK?

Please say no grin

WankyDoodleDandy Mon 31-Aug-20 00:24:34

Definitely not a cicada.
Looks like a Very Big Cricket!

Looks like a park town prawn which are found in certain areas of South Africa. Could be a type of locust. Depends where you are

Field cricket

RyanBergarasTeeth Mon 31-Aug-20 00:26:07

Or a wood cricket. One of the 2.

vodkaredbullgirl Mon 31-Aug-20 00:26:31

I would say a cricket.

It's a cricket.

I'd say the previous 'crickets' you've seen were probably grasshoppers...

Roesel’s bush cricket.

Hedgesfullofbirds Mon 31-Aug-20 22:45:19

The one in your first picture looks like a common field cricket - probably female judging by the downturned ovipositor.

The green one in your second picture is almost certainly a Great Green Bush Cricket
