Best robot mop?

BeeTrees · 23/08/2020 18:52

So looking for a robot mop, ideally one that can be controlled by smart phone but not essential. As much as I’ve said I’m going to mop every week it’s ain’t happening! Don’t need it to vacuum as well, just mop. Thanks in advance

Oh my Christ! I've only just got myself a robot hoover (that I'm a little bit in love with) and I find there is such a thing as a robot mop????

A robot mop? Be still my beating heart!!

Anyway this is what's good housekeeping says. I havent read it yet but if I find one that's good, not too expensive (£250 or less) and not too 'wet' (I have wooden floors) then I'm buying it. Today.

Gosh I've never heard of a robot mop, do you need a robot bucket too? I can't imagine how it would work, sloshing water all over the place, and surely it would need to vaccum first?
And connected to your phone!!!

They do need to vacuum first. You can get combined ones that vacuum then squirt water and mop.

Or get just a mop that can have multiple modes eg sweep/damp mop/squirting water. None do deep cleans/disinfecting.

I have hard wood floors so can't get one that throws loads of water everywhere. And already have a neato robot vacuum I never use because I never bother to pick everything up off the floor and always come home to it making stupid noises having got stuck somewhere. But i have a dog, so if I can get one that will give the floor a clean then picking up my crap will be more worth it.

I think that I've ruled out the £179 Irobot. Someone said it only does a small space. The next one up at about £220 looks like it could be good. But I don't think that one has an app.

Anyway hopefully someone who knows something about this will be along soon! I'm just reading off 'tinternet

@Vodkacranberryplease - ooh a dog! I saw a reference to a robo vac that ran over a dog poo and proceeded to smear it around the house. You really would need a mop then! Shock

eufy do a vacuum/mop hybrid which is meant to be good.
I have just got a eufy 30cmax(vacuum only) and it is amazing. I love him. He is currently my favourite member of the family. I was tempted by the mop/vaccum one but tbh I dont mind the mopping as much as the constant bloody bits and endless pet hair so didnt spend the exyra on the mopping one!

I have the Roborock S5 Max which is a 2 in 1 vacuum and mop.

It's the best thing ever. I researched quite a few before getting this and watched countless videos on Vacuum Wars (YouTube) before getting it.

We've named ours too!!!
I like him more than the DC at times. I'm so getting a robot mop next! This is the second best thing to happen in 2020! (The first was getting robo hoover)

Thanks all, torn between the iRobot ones.
@Vodkacranberryplease ours is also a neato and he does make us pick everything up first! We run him when home as wouldn’t trust him either. The self emptying ones sound awesome

Hmm, the ecovacs 920 is also a vacuum, when I already have one of those! So I guess I want the cheaper iRobot one to just mop

I have Lucas an irobot braava he is so cute. His mopping is much more orderly than by deboot vacuum that just goes in random directions banging into everything. Lucas goes around spraying and moping chirping “blue army” when he squirts. Grin

@Allsloppy do you have the top end one? The m.... one that’s squirts?
there’s a huge jump between the 390 and that one.

My Lucas is a braava jet 250 and depending on what pad you apply he damp washes or wet washes or dusts but not Hoover’s. I tend to just use the wet wash on my laminate and tiles as it gets wet but not soaking wet and drys quickly. Had him several years and he is great for mopping under the settee and tables you just wouldn’t normally bother with. Couldn’t live without Lucas or Barry they keep me sane as I have a hairy spaniel to contend with.

You named them 😂😂😂

Actually I do understand why. Because my neato always gets stuck and I come home to find it on its side making annoying noises it's not got a name. But I am far more annoyed with it than I would be 'just' a vacuum..,

So of the iRobot's which do you think is best for cleaning the floor post neato given they are wooden floors. Not looking for loads of water just the floors cleaned additionally to vacuuming. I have a dog so floors get dirty even though you can't see it.

Ideally I'd like to squirt sonething on floors and get it to do a room at a time. Eg take it to the hallway and it does that, and the next day the living room.

I'm not sure how well the little pads last and don't want it just moving dirt around.

@Vodkacranberryplease i think we’re looking for the same thing, mine is also a neato and wanting to send something around afterwards just to mop.
I’m thinking not the top end bravo but the 390 one?

I gave up in the end and got all excited about getting my neato to work.... but the batteries are fucked so I've just sent off for new ones! £50! Plus new ones for my dyson cordless! I figure if it vacuums I can come home and squirt method on the floors and quickly clean as they are wooden.

But a lot of the stuff I read said that the cheaper one had a function that was more damp rather than squirting loads of water around. And one of the higher ones didn't, with wood floors water everywhere is not a good idea and I've not got much space to mop in my kitchen and bathroom so can just do that by hand.

So I'm liking the sound of the brava 250. I will call him Nigel. Or if I love hIm Dave after Dave Grohl. I'm not seeing any major advantage of the pricier ones. Maybe I'll buy the brava now as he could almost do dusting/cleaning which might replace vacuuming? If I run him almost every day I need him to not be wetting floors though.

Might google robot floor polisher now in fact! Just in case.

@Porseb - I'm waiting for my roborock s5 max to be delivered, I'm SO excited!!

Any handy hints? I'm worried it's going to be confusing, even though all reviews are fab.

Or I’ve just seen the iLife Shinebot w400? Proper mop robot? But will take a month to arrive and reviews on Amazon aren’t great.

@iborgia - so sorry, only seen your message now.

The S5 Max is brilliant - app works great - I can zone to clean specific areas (kitchen and dining daily)

I call it my best purchase as it's saved me so much time.

The bin is easy to empty and filter to remove and clean
