Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.
Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

We’ve had ours 2 years, still adore him. Soooo satisfying when you move furniture, minesweeper under beds etc and it is all clean under there!

Can anyone with a Eufy tell me how it works with upstairs and downstairs? Can I buy a Eufy, programme him to do downstairs regularly, and then bring him upstairs to get him to do his stuff in the bedroom and hallway? I think I've read that this is an option - I'm so tempted to get one, but don't want to have to be buying two!

DappledOliveGroves

They don't so stairs.

If you get a basic one you can have it permanently plugged in downstairs and set to go off each day and then when you want to, take it upstairs and let it run around up there.

More expensive models 'map' the area and go around in a pattern, which is more effective but they then can't (I don't think) be used in another area without remapping.

You certainly do not need two.
After today’s regular downstairs morning run I took him upstairs to do the short 30 minute option in the spare bedroom.
When I wasn’t looking he got into an argument with a plastIc coat hanger which he found under the sofa and carried off and got stuck under the wardrobe. He lost one of his little whiskery brushes In the tussle but it clipped back on.
I won’t let him into our bedroom until I have checked it thoroughly for fallen earrings and the like.

I have had mine for about 8 months he is brilliant, you are right ok spent the 1st week just watching him wander around.

Mine is only the basic model 11s so he doesn't map a area as such he just wanders apparently aimlessly but he covers all areas
@DappledOliveGroves
He has a anti lemming device built in so he doesn't throw himself down the stairs so I just carry him up stairs and leave him to it , I had to review him from under the bed once because I forgot him and his battery ran out.
@TrickyD I agree it is amazing how much they pick up mine runs for a hr a day , i have to empty him 2x a week .

If he died weeps I would buy a new one on the next pay day.

Because I'm basically a sheep, I also bought one last week- a Eufy 30C.

I already bloody love it, I cannot believe how much it picks up. And we've had a proud parent moment this morning, when I let her do the upstairs without carefully arranging sons skateboard across the top of the staircase (but I watched for ages to make sure she didn't hurl herself down Grin)

It love mine, the only issue is he has sometimes left scuffs on the side of furniture, so he now wears a cuff made of craft felt.

I think it might have been my fault! So glad you love him.

You've got a fancier version than mine, he lives downstairs and I take him up now and again to do upstairs. I find him less "destructive" when he gets hold of something he shouldn't than a standard hoover. I am also awestruck at how quiet he is in comparison, when he is clearly very powerful. I told 19yo DS1that if his floor was ever clear I'd send Eufy in. Poor Eufy must have had a tummy ache....

I know what you mean about watching. I like to set him going while I do other tasks like dusting or polishing. It's like having company while you work Grin

I was just lifting my feet for mine to go under them as I read the title of this thread Grin She's been here a month and we love her dearly. I am a lazy cow who hates hoovering with a passion definitely wouldn't be without one again.

I've made another purchase from the Eufy site today....the small hand held vac which I'm hoping will make doing the stairs a much more pleasant task than dragging the redundant heavy Dyson out. It's a good job the scales were out of stock Grin

Another happy eufy customer. We’ve had our wee robovac for about a year. Excellent device and great value for money.

FinnyStory, yes it is all your fault. But you have made a lot of people happy.

Hi everyone . I bought a different brand . It was dearer and is supposed to have mapping ! But it misses so much , so many little bits etc . Especially on carpet . Am thinking of returning mine . This has 2200 suction and great reviews but I’m not finding it great at all . So disappointed!

Could I ask a question?

Am sorely tempted but would like to know how it handles the edges of the floor and corners. We have a long hall with wooden floorboards and there constantly seems to be dust and cat hair that gathers along the edges as the cats love to rub their faces along the wall, shedding hair as they go. Does it pick up that kind of thing or would I end up having to brush all the hair further into the room with a dustpan and brush to make sure it got picked up?

That’s interesting about the reviews, FoodieToo. I was concerned that there was no “Which” report with reviews for the 30c, but as so many people seemed happy with it I made the leap of faith.
Some of these robots are insanely expensive. £1200 ? No thanks.

It is not brilliant with corners, at least ours isn’t. But it has an ‘Edge’ mode where it finds a skirting or whatever and works its way along it. That might be useful for you.

I'm renovating and have a fabulous Henry for the heavy stuff, but Im considering one of these ...unfortunately the entire floor is full of boxes & crates etc and I'm worried about one getting trapped or hurting themselves!!

I think I want one as a 'pet' more than a hoover 🤣

(I'd get a pet, but still WAYYYY too much work going on, it wouldn't be fair!)

They makes good pets as their litter tray is very easy to empty.
When trapped they squeak to be rescued.

We had a Roomba when they first came out. It was good but not that good... For all its clever tricks, the only thing it was really good at was the basics ie keeping on top general dust, it missed bits (so much for detecting dirt), obviously couldn't do edges, and got stuck. The cat liked riding on it and chasing it though.

Now it has gone to the great docking station in the sky, I do miss it. It definitely cut out a lot of time, even if it didn't eliminate the need to hoover entirely. I don't think it was worth the cost though. The better priced Eufy is tempting me. How does it cope with long hair on carpet?
