Please can anybody help me decide, keep looking at the Dulux, F&B and Valspar colour charts but nothing comes to me. I stupidly bought made to measure curtains and matching cushions before choosing a wall colour and I fear this is a mistake that will haunt me for a long time. 2 3 seater and cuddle chair which is 12 months old and I light charcoal the curtains I got were navy, seriously don't know what made me do it. I will attach the sample of the curtain fabric please help me mumsnet.

Are you on Facebook? There is a fabulous group called 'house talk' .... get on it and the ideas are amazing

I’m here! Can you post the curtain sample?!

So navy curtains, light charcoal furniture - is that right?

Can you send a picture of the room?

Is it big? Do you have high ceilings?

What kind of 'vibe' or 'look' do you like?

I'd narrow it down to one colour chart personally otherwise it's too overwhelming. I always choose F&B colours (but get Johnstone's colour match - never ever pay ridiculous F&B prices!!!) Grin

It's a bigish room 8m by 6m with big glass doors opening out to the garden. I don't really want a grey unless that's all that will go as I am so bored of grey walls.

Yes, why the 5pm deadline?

Dulux Egyptian cotton - is will go with everything. We’ve got that in our living room with charcoal sofas and navy accessories.

Can you post some pics? And what direction does the room face?

Dulux has an app, take a photo of the room and choose any colours to see what goes.

I have the decorators coming at 8am tomorrow morning so 5pm today gives me time to go to B&Q before it closes.
High celling they are just over 10ft.

F&B stiffkey blue (Valspar can colour match it) it’s deep grey blue and utterly beautiful!

Dulux rock salt is white with just a hint of grey, we have it everywhere and it works in every light. With those curtains having blue tones and a charcoal sofa I can't see how you can have anything but grey, really. I personally would accessorise with mustard though and a gallery wall of bright travel prints.

A very pale blue?

Or a statement dark blue/ grey wall with the rest of the walls white or pale grey.

I love dulux polished pebble!

Acunningruse · 12/08/2020 16:18

Is that swatch the curtains? As it looks blue-grey rather than navy?

We have polished pebble and I love it. We also have Egyptian cotton, love it but slightly prefer the polished pebble. Our living room is denim drift and I am so pleased we went for it but might be slightly too dark with that material

I would go for off white and add colour with large plants. Nice art work. It will look great. You can then add nice cushions (h&m have lovely velvet type)

Can you nip to B&Q and grab a few front runners as a sample size and then paint them in big squares on the walls so you can see them in false light tonight and daylight tomorrow? Then you can go out and buy your choice of paint while the decorators are prepping the room in the morning?

What about a very pale pink, would look fab with grey and navy and you could add scatter cushions to hold it all together.

This is the sofa fabric. I'm not really sure why I panic bought the curtains it just sort of happened and I do deeply regret it. The F&B Stiffkey Blue looks nice on the chart but do you think it might be to dark for a whole room?

I reckon white with a hint of pale blue. It would tie in with the curtains.

Acunningruse · 12/08/2020 16:24

I think it'll look great! I love the textures of both curtains and sofa, I think by keeping the walls light it'll nr a lovely fresh canvas to add pops of colour.

Dulux diamond Matt in Almendra. It's kind of a cross between grey and a lilac/pinky colour. We have it in our sitting room with grey and navy in the soft furnishings and it is beautiful

Yes I thought pink. A muted pink like f&b setting plaster or dead salmon?

Report
WhatsWhat456 · 12/08/2020 16:26

Yes the blue swatch is from the curtain fabric, it's not a true Navy no does have grey undertones actually you are right.

I could go with a pink at this point I don't have much choice.
