So what are you up to in today's heat?

It's going to be 35 degrees here by midday apparently (East of England) and I can't decide what to do. I've had all week off work and haven't achieved a lot... So far I've done yoga and had breakfast!

What is everyone up to - embracing or hiding from the heat?!

God I wish it was that hot here. I'm sat in bed in my dressing gown and a cup of tea at the moment. Planning on working when I get up.

Enjoy the heat OP!

I'm currently having a very quiet cup of tea, sitting in the kitchen, in silence. It's bliss!

I am however going to get dressed in a mo, then fill the paddling pool for dd2.

She wants to make a sleeping bag for her favourite teddy so well do that & maybe some more of her paint by numbers for her bedroom.

Dd1 will wander round in hoody & shorts, complain she's cold, and probably watch a musical Hmm

What would you do if it was hot and you had a day off @Strugglingtodomybest? Smile

Bloody working a 10 hour day in a thick nurses uniform (community nurse). Thank god for air con!

That's sorted out my pangs of missing my dc! @lucysmam Grin they're with their dad this week. Out of interest, what would you do with a day to yourself?

Working, and if last week is anything to go by probably ending up with a horrendous headache by 3pm due to lack of fresh air/basically sitting in an oven.

If I had the day off I'd plan to be outside near water in the shade for some of the day, otherwise just relaxing at home - inside or in shady garden (if available), wherever is coolest! Lots of ice in drinks. A good book.

Going to take the kids to try out our new kayak that we have never used! Just got it out the box and there are about 100 blow up parts! Haven't got a clue what to do or where to start, so not sure if today is going to be a good day or a bad day!! Grin

I am officially having the day off from all responsibilities and will be parking myself in the garden with my kindle for a large chunk of the day. I'm lucky that my dc are old enough to entertain themselves. I'm even planning to throw a take away at them for dinner later.

happypotamus · 07/08/2020 09:28

I don't know. DC have gone to my parents to play in their paddling pool. I have replied to many threads on here about how I would spend a childfree day after every waking minute since March either at work or with them, but now I am in that position I don't know what to do. Sleeping and watching tv would be my childfree plan, but that seems a waste of a lovely day. I am working tonight, so might have a nap later, maybe read in the garden. I should clean the house, which has been impossible with DC around, but would also be a waste of a lovely day and too hot.

Going to find a river to paddle in later. Currently trying to convince the kids to get dressed. Stay in the house and keep the curtains closed.

Grin @Misty9 erm...I don't know! Probably quick tidy up, then sit in the sun with my book & phone for a while, maybe even a glaas or two of wine before tea time. I'm waiting on some fabric for my next project for myself - if that had arrived then I'd make a start on it.

Working (at home). To be honest I prefer to hide indoors when it gets so hot.

@happypotamus exactly! When you actually have the opportunity it's difficult to know what to do with it, and it feels like it should be something that really makes the most of the time so that pressure doesn't help! Confused Grin

@tiredanddangerous sounds like a plan. And definitely takeaway - who wants to cook in this?!

@purpleboy sounds...fun! Grin good luck with it!

@flipperdoda boo to work, and especially work with a headache Sad hope it's okay

@TheMandalorian I frequently give up on my attempts to get the dc to get dressed... Luckily their pj's look a bit like summer clothes anyway Grin

I've done all the housework and washing earlier this morning, so giving myself the rest of the day off and invited a friend round for lunch

Thanks for asking OP! I'm out of bed now and have discovered that it's actually sunny here, so I'm thinking I may just take the day off and potter in the garden. I didn't sleep well last night (dogs went mental at the milkman at 3.15am!) so I will take frequent naps on the sun lounger Smile

isabellerossignol · 07/08/2020 09:39

Hmm, it's cold and wet where I am. I'd love a heatwave for a few days.

Enjoy the sunshine. Smile

It hot but cloudy where I am. Eldest dd has hot the train to Southport to go to the beach with her mate. Other three kids are going to a friends for a play date. I'm going to nip to h and m to buy eldest boy some T-shirt's as he's just had a massive growth spurt and then do a bit of laundry sorting and ironing. Everyone is running out of clothes.

@Strugglingtodomybest yey for sun! And double yey for taking the day off! Enjoy!

@BertieBassettsBits "earlier this morning" - it still is early isn't it?! When did you start?! Grin I feel lazy now... Although I just did a quick hoover.

Today I’m going to put the shopping delivery away then I’ll go and sit with a coffee on the waterfront which is a 20 minute walk.

Then I shall take up residence under the willow in the back garden and I think dinner will be a pizza from the pizza oven.

So what are you up to in today's heat?

I have an 8mo who is a warm baby as it is!

So the air con is already on upstairs and the curtains in the living room will remain shut, too hot for her little skin so will be remaining indoors today but will get her paddling pool out at some point late afternoon :)

(Before DD I would've been at work, in my ideal world I would've been in the garden, cider, music/bbq on, topping up my tan god I miss those child free days
