I'm hoping schools will go back and stay back as planned. However, my logical side doesn't think this will happen so I'm trying to plan ahead.
DS's will be going into Y9. His school did not provide adequate home learning. No lessons, feedback or marking and sporadic difficult to follow dry work was set e.g. multiple online worksheets with no answer scheme and no actual learning to accompany it.
I did approach school about this, and the leadership team made encouraging noises but nothing actually changed. I don't want this to turn into a teacher bashing thread, I am just hoping that the collective wisdom of Mumsnet will help me find some useful resources for leaning at home if needed. I was considering BBC bitesize but have been reading another thread where it many posters have said it's not at all good.
I'm able to pay for resources if needed. I am self employed and thankfully my work is picking up so for some of her time at least, DS would be working unsupervised. English, maths, science and French feel
the most important as I this maybe that for other subjects we could agree an approach linking into things he is actually interested in and find our own material.
I have managed to sort an English tutor, for one hour a week from a local school who is shielding so not going into school.
I do though feel uncomfortable about this, so will give it further thought.
