What's the worst sting or bite you've ever had?

I've been stung by jellyfish, wasps, bumble bees, and bitten by spiders (not big huge ones), red ants, mosquitos and those bitey flies. Oh and the odd cats and dogs.

For me the worst by far was the bumblebee. I put my hand on it not seeing it there and it hurt sooooooo much. Like my hand was on fire or something. I don't really remember completely what the actual pain felt like that as it was years ago but I do remember that it hurt like nothing else and for ages too. Poor thing didn't even mean to sting me, I put my hand on it!

Jellyfish did hurt but not agony - it was only one of those small ones you get. (In France)

Red ants can hurt and itch like mad too.

What's the most painful bite or sting you've ever had?

I’ve once had a truly bad reaction / and I actually still don’t know what it was.
Go ready for a night out and used old makeup (could have been that) was outside ok a summer evening (could have been bitten/stung by anything).
My face swelled up to the point where I loooed I looked like I had folds and I felt incredibly unwell. I was literally in bed for three days and it took a week for the swelling to go down. To this day I still don’t know why. We actually called out the doctor but without an allergy test they can’t tell of course .

I've never had anything really bad. But the wasp that stung me right on the front of the neck hurt, felt like I could still feel it for weeks after. A colleague said "There's a wasp on your neck" and I instinctively went with my hand and the bastard stung.

And it was only by dumb luck I didn't step on a sea urchin in Greece. I was just walking around in shallow pebbly water and didn't even see the urchins until someone pointed them out, they must have been every 2 feet or so, loads of them.

A briefly bite on my ankle, came up like a pudding before tracking round my leg. Hurt like hell to lower it or walk on it.

I was bitten/stung by something on a beach in Italy at night. No idea what it was but it fucking hurt. Didn't sleep for days after it as it totally throbbed.

I nearly stepped on a scorpion once too in Greece. It was tiny but still scared the crap out of me! I was more shocked that you could get scorpions in Greece!

Horse fly about 25 years ago it bite me on the side of my knee the my leg swelled from half way down my calf / shin to half way up me thigh. the skin was so tight I could not bend my leg and it was incredibly hot and pain full, and itchy
It took a visit to the doc for strong antihistamine , then to the hospital to get the bite drained and dressed and about two weeks before it started to go down . it was 2 months before my leg looked anything like normal .
I still have a lump about the size of a 50p under my skin.

I have been bitten by the little swines before and had a lump and itch for a few days but nothing like that.

And a few nights ago i got bitten 3 times on on foot and once on the other just while I was hanging some washing out , they itched for days too

Omg op that is a lot of horrible bites you've had! Worst for me was a wasp sting on my thigh. It went all red the size of a small plate on my thigh and I had to go to the doc surgery and see the nurse, can't remember what she did to help me but I got some kind of treatment for it. I was also stung on the ankle at the same time but that didn't have a severe reaction like my thigh.

Similar.
Nettles, mosquitoes I don't even register.
Wasps don't really hurt.
Jellyfish did hurt.
But the bumblebee! Ouch!

I got stung in the face by a wasp and half my face swelled up.
Mosquito bites are second nature to me now living in Spain. But they are itchy as heck!

I got stung by a bee in the hospital car park when I was in labour - talk about adding insult to injury!

Worst thing for me is horseflies though - I really react badly

Stood on a bumble bee and got stung (running around barefoot as a child) ... hopping back home, bawling my eyes out, hopped on another one and got stung again! Also a weever fish - agony.

Was stung by what we think was a horsefly in France when I was about 7. The whole top half of my leg swelled up and my father had to carry me back to where we were staying. I still have the scar. I do seem to react badly to some bites and stings with a lot of swelling, and I find wasp stings the most painful. I got stung on the head a few years ago and had a terrible headache for 24 hours! I have a healthy fear of the little buggers!

A wasp that was on my bed and stung me in the back. I was betting changed and Lay back to pull up my jeans and had no top on. I knocked it with my hand and it’s arse basically broke off and stayed in my back. I went downstairs but every movement hurt as it seemed to make it pulse more venom into me. My mum wiped it away with Vinegar and the relief was instant. Glad the little fucker died.

Stuck my hand in a wasp nest - a kids tent and other junk had been leaning against the garden wall for months, I pulled the folded tent out...

Grabbed baby and legged it into the house, but had about 30 stings on my arm. Luckily we live next to a pharmacy so took toddler and baby and stayed there until I felt less faint. Couldn't use that hand for days.

Mauve stinger jellyfish in Malta. Been there so many times and never seen one, but one windy day the winds brought them to the shallows.
I was swimming and swam right into one.

OW>>fuck..OWW! It was excruciating and the welts that were wrapped around my arms lasted 3 weeks! My DS2 also got stung but not as badly.

Not an insect but I was poisoned by sap from a manchineel tree in the BVI.
A patch on my arm came up in tiny blisters, which over the course of 24 hours, turned into a one massive blister that burst ( I'm talking 3 inches by 4 on my fore arm). Then the raw skin under that formed lots of little blisters, that over the course of 24 hours, turned into one big blister that burst. Same thing happened for 6 days, hurt like a bastard and was red raw and weeping for 3 weeks. They wouldn't let me back on the plane unless I had it bandaged.
I still don't know for sure where I got it, I didn't go near the bloody tree but our snorkel stuff was on a table under the tips of a branch. I must have picked it up leaning on the table.

My DS was stung by a weever fish last year. Absolute agony. Went as white as a sheet and looked like he was going to be sick. He's had wasp and bee stings before and didn't make a fuss but said the weever fish was far, far worse
