What's the current protocol for young toddlers and fevers?

Hi. 15mo has come down with a mildish fever. Clearly she feels feverish and poorly as is sleepy but restless. She's had calpol, and I'm not worried it's Covid, I expect it's just a random but it teething. But obviously I have to check, especially as we use grandparent childcare.

For an adult its clearly self isolation until a Covid negative test comes through but I'm not sure about her age as I thought testing was only for over 5s.

Does anyone know what the proper protocol is please?

What’s the temperature? A doctor told me that teething won’t cause anything above 38, which isn’t far off the 37.8 Covid “limit”

It was 38.4 underarm but tbh, I think she got hotter later in the night but was wriggling too much to get an accurate reading. She's never had a teething temperature before.

I think underarm is about half a degree to a degree lower than to the real temperature, so in presuming it was about 39.

The number to call for testing advice is 119 I think. We had my 21mo tested the other day as he's got a nasty cough at the moment. Did the swab at a mobile testing unit near us at 3pm on Saturday and got the results back (negative) at 8am on Sunday.

We tested my 19 month old last week as he had a fever. Didn’t really think he had CV but he is at nursery so I felt it was the right thing to do. Booked online and tested two hours later and results in 24hours (negative).
