6week no heartbeat

Momma1214 · 26/07/2020 23:43

hello everyone,

This is my first post but everyone here seems so caring. I had my 6 week ultrasound since it was ivf and everything measured 6wks 1day including fetal pole but there wasn't a heartbeat. It was transvaginal so everything I've researched says at this point it should be there. I have another ultrasound Tuesday but am so worried. Anyone experience anything similar?

Not everyone but most people are.

A friend had similar. Please try not to worry before Tuesday (easier said than done) when it can be investigated properly

@Frownette, thanks. I'm trying to keep a level head and am keeping myself from googling too much

I had a scan at a similar point and was warned that there may not be a heartbeat but if there wasn't it didn't mean it was all over. 48 hours could make a difference. Flowers

@PastMyBestBeforeDate I can't tell you how much that little bit of hope gives me. Thank you.

Also an ivf warrior here. A week could make all the difference. I didn’t hand my first scan until 7 +2 because my clinic said anything before could just be too early. Everything crossed for you.

@Whatelsecouldibecalled I'm really hoping it was just a day or so too early. Getting this far and not knowing whats next is the most nerve wrecking thing.

Never been through ivf, but have everything crossed for you and your little one! I can't imagine how you feel right now! 🤞🤞

@Clift19 thanks so much. The next day and a half can't pass fast enough.

It's a bit on the early side to see a heartbeat, so not seeing one doesn't mean that you won't see one a week later. It's all so tiny for a scan to pick up. 7 weeks is a mich better chance to pick up a heartbeat and you need to see it at 8 weeks for sure for a viable pregnancy.

Ivf makes it all more nerve wracking, don't you think? My friends who got pregnant naturally within a year never were so concerned if things were going well as I was. I think we're just more careful and mindful of bad news.

@Isthisfinallyit I completely agree. It almost makes me wish I didn't have the early scan. I think with all the "no" we get through the process it just makes the one "yes" so much harder and scarier. I get a little excited and feel like something is waiting to pop the bubble if that makes sense. Im just trying to stay as positive as I can without being unrealistic.

I've had ivf twice but many years ago, oldest 17. Crossing my fingers for you.
Such a stressful time.

I had many early scans due to recurrent miscarriage and I’m not sure they helped!

I was also told no heartbeat at 6 weeks, three days of worry and another scan and there it was blinking away.

It is very early, an extra day could make all the difference. Best of luck for tomorrow x

Not IVF but I had a suspected ectopic pregnancy so was scanned at 6 weeks, during that scan all they could see was the pregnancy sac, at this point the ‘lovely’ doctor told me ‘don’t get too attached’! A week later they could see the fetal pole but still no heartbeat, this wasn’t detected until 8 weeks. Rest of the pregnancy was fine and DC is 14 now!

Hey everyone! Just an update there was a heartbeat today! Baby is measuring a little small but the Dr. said it could be a day or two late implant which I didn't even know could happen with ivf! I'm so happy and have another follow up US next week just to make sure the baby is growing okay. Thanks so much for the positive thoughts and prayers.
