Darkened armpits?!

OK weird one but for the last month I've been using a "natural" deodorant (instead of the Mitchum roller type I've used all my life) - just got out of the shower and I've noticed that my armpits are really dark under both! Could this be the deodorant?

I do shave but I've shaved for the last 15 years and never had this issue before. I have read it could also be caused by a hormonal issue or obesity but I am not overweight and nor do I have any other symptoms of a hormonal problem.

Nivea deodorant had the same effect on me so it's highly likely to be the deodorant.

Yes but that is the standard type of deodorant right? I've never had a reaction to that stuff. I feel like it must be the bicarb of soda in the natural one causing it!

I guess it's "standard", but it's the only deodorant, standard or otherwise, to ever have had that effect 🤷🏼‍♀️.

So weird. I dont see how it can be hormonal as I have no other symptoms and I'm sure this is a new thing.

If it's acanthosis nigricans then it's called by insulin resistance, this can be because of hormone problems like PCOS or it could also be an indicator of diabetes. I would have a blood test with your GP to rule out any underlying medical conditions.

I dont think it is dark enough to be that, from a look at Google images. And I can't imagine that would be my only symptom either.
