DD is 6 and going into year 2 in September.
School say that jumpers and cardigans have to have the logo on but everything else can be generic/supermarket, although the uniform shop sells logoed polos, PE Tshirts, PE hoodies and hats – this is a CofE voluntary aided school (not sure what that means in terms of uniform/policy).
DD returned to school for 6 weeks on 2nd June. We had to have clean uniform everyday so I went out and bought 2 summer dresses (she refused to wear them in Reception so didn’t have any) plus 2 extra pinafores so she had 6 full sets of uniform in all plus a couple of partial sets (2 summer dresses, 3 pinafores, 2 skirts, 4 jumpers (she hates cardigans), 4 polos)
All the washing has shrunk the logoed jumpers so they no longer fit DD. Jumpers are £12.50 each, which means I’ll spend £50 on jumpers. She also needs new shoes and because of a medical condition she has I have to buy a specific brand and style for her which cost £50+.
I’m a single parent, and can’t really afford £100+ to spend on uniform (her very first school uniform her dad went 50/50 with me on but anything after that has been my responsibility, he even knocked the cost of a pair of trainers off the maintenance once when she needed new ones on his weekend) and as I have no choice about shoes I wondered if I should compromise and just buy 2 two packs of jumpers from Asda for £6?
School is full time minus 1 half day and 1 hour per day a week (losing 7 hours). I had wanted to set some money aside in case she needs shoes or more uniform later in the year (her skirts for example will probably do her another term but won’t make it passed Christmas as school are strict on skirt, short and dress length, they can only be a few inches above the knee).
We will have to have clean uniform each day again in September until at least October half term.
So do I just suck it up and spend £50 on the logoed jumpers? Or risk it and get none logoed?
