Sodding Aldi - Lunex Pads now “lightly scented”

LoeliaPonsonby · 18/07/2020 22:31

Bloody Aldi’s pads are now “lightly scented”, i.e. reek of cheap and nasty air freshener. Are there any unscented pads left? I use a mooncup during the day but need a pad at night.

Aldi, if you’re reading, NO ONE ASKED FOR SHITTY SMELLING PADS!

I see a lot of people complaining about scented pads. Why is that ? Is it the actual fragrance? I much prefer scented ones ( sorry if this isTMI) to somewhat mask the TOM smell ( which personally find awful from myself or anyone else).

Urgh. I can't stand them either. I can't understand why anyone would want their foof to smell like a cheap air freshener and they make me itch too.

Ah shit, not Aldi too?

Bollocks.

Bodyform are unscented.

I hate the scented ones because they make my bits itch!

there is no nasty SMELL until you mix it in with the scented pads then it smells minging trust me use a scented pad the whole world and his dog can tell your on your period

If you can smell someone its usually because they use scented pads or they don't change them regularly

Boots own brand maternity ones.

Cannot stand this. I only use body form now. Scented make me feel like I’m on fire.

I had a thought, what if this is all part of a grand plan to get us to move away from disposable towels and onto greener options... cloth, moon cups... maybe that’s the plan. Make them so horrible that they become unusable and then release a range of “eco protection”

I can’t think of any other reason why... nobody likes them. Surely a man invented them. No woman really wants downstairs to smell like a hanging car air freshener.

You can smell them when you walk into the feminine hygiene aisle. Its horrible. Bodyform is mostly unscented. Kotex? Lillets pads are unscented I think

The scented pads burn like a muthafucka. That's why people don't like them, along with the cheap air freshener advert that you're surfing the crimson tide. No thank you.
Bodyform and some Kotex do not smell horrible.

Doesn’t Aldi say on the pack that being scented is “accidental”? How do you accidentally make pads stink?

Reusables all the way. Yes there’s an initial outlay but that’s it, & they’re way more comfortable.

Yep also use reusable and also period pants. Means I can triple up on heavy nights and get more than 1 hours sleep at a time 🙄

I can always smell when someone is on their period and using scented pads. It’s minging.

Had to stop buying them too. Really annoying.

Co-op, Asda and Sainsbury’s own brand are all unscented and really cheap too. Always sensitive don’t smell either.

Bodyform have a range called PureSensitive. Not only are they scent free, they're also softer too. But they're difficult to get hold of. You can only get them from certain branches of Superdrug and a couple of other places. They've made them as difficult as possible to buy Hmm

Yes i have noticed that about PureSensitive i guess they will use that to pull them citing "lack of demand"Hmm
Seen this happen to other products Sad

I have reusables as backup for a mooncup, could you try those?

LunaNorth · 19/07/2020 04:20

Sainsbury’s own brand are the best I’ve used. Thin, the right size, unscented and 49p a packet.

I hate scented pads

I work as a supermarket shopper and seriously you can smell them as soon as you pick the packet up

They make me sneeze Envy

I use reusables

Added benefit to no scent, is that actually there is barely any scent from the blood and I don’t get that irritating pad rash

Urgh. Looks like I’m heading for reuseables. The Aldi ones aren’t accidental, it says on the packet now they are scented.

Another one who can’t smell any periodness until you add the crappy artificial smell into the mix.

We get the Asda ultra after reading about them here. They’re 54p a pack. Their tampons are very good too

We don’t have an Asda very close by, so I do an online shop every 3/4 months pretty much just for sanitary towels, tampons (all the sizes) and their red box tea bags. Three adult women live here, so I buy quite a lot (this is nothing to do with lockdown, in fact I was so well stocked that I haven’t had to buy any since February). No one ever wants to take in the shopping from the delivery man!

Kotex seem to be the best pads and they don't have any scent
