Neighbour’s dog barking non stop all day

First we had the electric guitars. Then the drum kit. Now they have a dog. It’s their first dog and I’m not sure they know how train it- not that I do either. But it barks CONSTANTLY. At nothing. I go into my garden and it’s barking and growling at the fence. Do they say anything to it? No. I go to the window or past the window or open the curtains and it looks up at me barking it’s head off. It wakes us up at night, it never shuts up. I saw the neighbour taking it for a walk today and it barked the entire time, all down the road, and barking and growling at everyone who walked past her. She said nothing to the dog and just smiled inanely at the passers by.

They aren’t considerate people. They don’t care if they piss us or other people off. This is the last straw and we are going to have to move.

I’m just so fucking angry.

There are some pdf booklets at the end of this.

www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/behaviour/barking
Print them out and post through the letter box and phone and report them as a noise nuisance. You really don’t have to put up with that. It sounds awful!

I can fully empathise with this. It’s horrendous to listen to. I’ve had a few neighbours who have left their dogs out whilst at work (pre covid) and they’ve barked all day which was wonderful for me who runs a business from home 🙄 one who left theirs out all night and barked all night. I put letters through the door and it did seem to do the job.

Happened to me so I kept a log with dates and times for a while and then phoned the dog warden who dealt with it.

if you are planning to move, do nothing - but with this next door your house will be unsellable.

So report to the council and start a diary. The bar is extremely high as we are all expected to put up with this shit, but give it a go. Hopefully your council will be a bit less useless than mine who just blubber 'but dogs bark...'

the dog will be so disturbed after a few months of this that it won't be rehomeable anyway. RSPCA won't give a fuck as long as it is fed and watered.
