Anyone done couch 2 5k?

Hi! Does anyone fancy sharing experiences of doing couch 2 5k? I have about 2 stone to lose and am calorie counting but want to do something to boost fitness as well as speed up the loss.

So really I’d like to know Did you enjoy it? How much weight did it make you lose? Did it change your shape?

Thanks for sharing!

I keep saying I will but I'm still on the couch at the moment. Confused

I did it during lockdown. I didn’t lose any weight but felt so much more toned and also so much more confident.

I never, ever thought I could run, but I did it. The mental boost was the most incredible thing. Now running 5k three times a week.

I am in the middle of it at the moment! I'm just on week 4, but I've stopped because I am unwell, but starting again next week! It's tough, but the satisfaction is great

My last run to complete the programme is tomorrow. It has been really good to do during lockdown. I usually easily hit 10,000 steps per day running around for work and kids, but wfh meant losing all of that. Knowing that I would at least spend half an hour every other day focusing on exercise and fitness was a mental and physical life saver and forced me to carve out time in my day to focus on that.

I am definitely still overweight, but haven’t got worse since I started C25K and feel a real sense of achievement and purpose. It is steady and reassuring. I chose Michael Johnson as my coach and I am going to miss going for a run with him so much that I think I will carry on listening to week 9 until I am ready to start running a bit further. Would definitely recommend it.

I did it two years ago and went from couch to a half marathon in 10 months. Honestly, if you'd told me when I started that would have been the outcome is have scoffed, but I fell in love with running. Haven't really run since due to the four month old on my lap but I will. Just need a running buggy so I can take her out in two months.

I did it and loved it. Running is amazing. Sadly it doesn’t help much with the weight thing but do it anyway, you will surprise yourself.

Actually I think it helps me with diet motivation as I am feeling better about myself.

I graduated this week - I have lost weight (but am calorie counting as well) and have definitely changed shape. I am continuing running and really look forward to it now.

I'm currently on week 2, doing it with my daughter. I've done it twice before in the last 6 years and did build up and conpleted a half marathon, but don't seem to have the motivation to continue running and last time managed a 10k as well, but I'm hoping this time will be different and I'll stick with running.

I did it eight years ago and never looked back. It changed my life, so much for the better.

I did four weeks of it last year and I enjoyed it then stopped.

I'm starting next week again.

I started it to get some fitness back when DS2 was a baby as an easy way to fit between feeds at any random time.

The first 8min run was the longest I'd ever run continuously in my life to that point.
A year later I had a HM medal, and have now done about 10 HMs.

Thanks so much for sharing!

I did run 1 today, found it really hard and felt like I couldn’t do it but managed to finish. I haven’t run or done any proper fitness in a long time. Hope I catch the running bug! Bit gutted it won’t help with weight loss, that’s usually my only motivator to get off my bum but we will see!

I quite fancy it, so could I do it with you? I'm hoping to get fitter and toning up would be a huge bonus. I hoping to lose lockdown weight I've put on and some 😬

I did it last summer, was so proud when I managed 5K! But I only did it the once I struggled to push myself to do it again.
Keep meaning to start it again but I'm
So demotivated at the mo 😩

I did it over 5 years ago now, since then I have run 3 half marathons, and I still run 5K at least twice a week even if I'm not training for something. I might have lost some weight, but I did it for fitness rather than weight loss. Bear in mind that muscle is more dense than body fat so you might not "lose" as much as you expect but still shrink clothes sizes (I did!)

I completed it about 3 weeks ago and since then I've been running 3 times a week, trying to run faster & further each week (I'm very slow at the moment). The aim is to continue & at some point next year I want to do a 10K. I've done the programme a few times over the past 5 years but only completed it once before - I have a tendency to sustain injuries a lot.
But I haven't lost weight (which I need to do) as it makes me soooo hungry and I haven't changed my diet. That's the key - eat better & less & you will lose weight. Not through exercise alone.
Good luck!
