Sorry, I know this topic has been done before but...
Recently watched The Falling, and Florence Pugh sings Voyage To The Moon- it's only a brief moment, but I had never heard the song before and I cannot stop thinking about it. I've listened to Donovan and the Mary Hopkin version and I'm sobbing! Absolutely bawling my eyes out! It is such a sad sweet melancholy song. It's making me think of the DCs as babies and how little DD (4) is growing so big now...

Are there any songs that have given you the same reaction? I can't stop listening and crying!

*Disclaimer- this may be a result of lockdown hysteria*grin

Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. Especially the line, "so many things I would have done, but clouds for in my way".

Dimming of the Day by Linda Thompson. Sang beautifully.

At Seventeen by Janis Ian. Sums up that yearning for love that seems so out of reach.

'Wonderful Tonight', Eric Clapton

Many years ago, when I'd just split up with a boyfriend and was doing my regular Saturday job in Woolies, this came on the sound system. I was serving a customer and tears just started rolling down my cheeks. It's been the same ever since [embarrassed]

Not because of the boyfriend. I married him grin

Ah, luna, definitely In the ghetto. So moving.

As a child, Streets of London used to make me inconsolable. I still can't listen to it now.

"how come things move on, how come cars don't slow, when it feels like the end of my world" perfectly sums up how I felt the morning she died...she died at 4am (as many people do - something to do with blood pressure) and we came out the hospice about 7am and the world was just carrying on. So surreal.

landgirl1 Mon 13-Jul-20 13:45:34

Heaven is a place nearby by Lene Marlin - worth checking out on youtube- it has got me through some dark times when struggling with grief & loss

Katinski Mon 13-Jul-20 13:45:57

Love that Joni Mitchell song, both sides now, Lucy
For me, although I restrict myself cos I start bawling, is James Taylor singing Carolina in my Mind. He wrote it when he was in Europe and homesick. My family live in the exact place he's singing about, my chances of ever getting there again are zilch, so,yes, every so often I have a Pity Fest and play this. LOUD!
