I found them useful when we had one large suitcase with 3 peoples clothes in. I could colour code each persons clothes, so it was easy to unpack upon arrival. It also makes your suitcase look super organised!
I roll everything before I pack, which fits more in and saves creasing. I'm not convinced it saves space, but I still like them.

I travelled a lot last year. I didn’t find them helpful at all and won’t bother in future.

I'm a complete convert to packing cubes. I don't think they save space, but its a lot easier to find everything.

I love mine - you can definitely fit more into hand luggage and they keep everything organised when you are away.

I always use them. Especially for underwear. If I’m going by myself I don’t use them for bigger items but if it’s a family holiday we mix clothes between suitcases Incase one goes astray and packing cubes makes it so much easier to find stuff.

I've just used mine. Easy to group things

Yes love them!!
Yy to Different colour for different people. Easy to split peoples clothing across all the available space either to fit more in or in case one suit case goes missing.

Easier to unpack and pack. Literally sling each packing cube at the relevant child (even the one with SN) and they put it in the drawer. Hang a wash bag up. Clothes are either in the packing cube on the child or in the wash bag so much easier to repack end of holiday. At home you sling packing cubes with unused clothing in drawers

Roll not fold. Fit far more in with a packing cube than without.

Better for privacy/ease if for any reason you have to go through/empty and repack bags en route. Everything doesnt fall out everywhere. Also DD on camps. She was on one where she was the only girl and limited privacy, she found she had much more privacy with the packing cubes than she would have done otherwise.

Ive also been known to use them in day backpacks for hats, gloves, scarves, pack a macs, towels and swimwear, electronics....

Fab things

Love them.. we camp a bit so pack clothes in cubes and just throw them in the car to fit around everything else (we don't have suitcases nor big rucksacks). Great at airports for weekend breaks with hand luggage only (in the food old days)

I wouldn’t go anywhere without packing cubes. Especially useful if you are touring and can’t unpack. Keep your case tidy and you can always find stuff.

I like the idea of them, but can’t see how they’re different from the carrier bags that I currently use?

Never heard of these before but I love an organised case and we do mix the whole families clothes across suitcases so these sound ideal!

If you put everything in carrier bags possibly not much organisational wise. However I do find I can compresses clothes quite a bit into packing cubes and the stay small because you can zip it up and squish it at the same time. Also they are just the right size, especially for hand luggage, so stuff just satisfyingly fits better.

Love them here too.
I like that I can have all my things organised in my case and you can definitely fit more in by using them.

Thanks Hazelnut, that makes sense.

I currently only do each child a bedtime ‘pack’.

Also love them. We are getting another colour for our next trip.

I loved them, they stop everything getting mixed up. When you arrive its easy to unpack and useful for keeping dirty clothes in one too. It also looks super neat which makes me happy!

Really good especially for backpacking - when you might need to rumble around to find something at the bottom of a big backpack it’s much easier to just take out each “cube” rather than every single item. Also makes packing much more efficient and you can keep eg shirts folded so fewer rumpled clothes

Yes! They're amazing.

We colour code ours and it's a lifesaver. Also, we fit more in and things do get crumpled.

I also use cheap transparent versions for some fiddly toys in the playroom.

Another fan here - I don't even bother unpacking the cubes at our destination.

I’ve thought about these before- recommendations, please?! Just the amazon basics ones?

Report
CaptSkippy · 11/07/2020 18:39

I only use them for smaller items such as underwear and socks. Larger items I roll.

Personally i prefer slim ones like these with one bigger one for jumpers, hoodies and jeans. I don't think the make matters overmuch. Except I really wouldn't recommend the super cheap ones because the zips go.

So we've used them twice now, me and DS2 (DH and DS1 not interested unless I do it for them!)

Pros
They make it massively easier to unpack and pack when away as you just take the cubes out and put in drawers
If moving hotels they are great as the stuff is all in cubes and stays in cubes.
They make it tidier when away.
It's easier to see whose clothes are whose (different colours)

Cons
I've needed more smaller cubes - DS2 needs more bigger ones. (I tend to take clothes on hangers, so need more small ones for underwear and small stuff, he has jeans, jumpers, t-shirts etc.) The ones I have are Medium/Small assorted. Because I have different colours I can't swap them around!

You need to think about how to use them. I've seen people use lots of smaller ones with an outfit per day (great for kids), but if you are an adult or older child reusing the same clothes to reduce clothes taken you need bigger cubes for types of clothes.

Yes, am a fan. And I use them to store out of season clothes in year round.
