Just seen a woman trying on a dress OUTSIDE Next

As in stripping off into her underwear and trying the dress on, looking at her reflection in the window, then sending her friend in to get a different size Shock

This is not normal behaviour is it? Has COVID stretched the boundaries of what is considered acceptable to this extent? (I’m assuming her reason was something to do with COVID)

I didn’t put this in AIBU because I’m definitely not BU.

Anyone else seen shocking behaviour recently that wouldn’t have happened pre-pandemic?

What??? Yanbu. How did she even get it outside without taking the tags off?

I have no idea, I assume the staff were in on it, as there were a couple of them on the door, handing out hand sanitizer/minding the queue.
Very strange.

It's her "new normal".

Sorry, I couldn't resist it. Wink But I've no doubt she was doing it to make a point. It's the beginning of civil unrest.

I suppose NEXT is technically still covid secure...

I'm assuming she bought it and might've lived a fair journey away, so wanted to exchange straight away if it didn't fit?

I saw a woman pissing outside Costa at Finsbury Park last summer. Someone trying on a dress outside amid Coronavirus really isn't boundary stretching.

Are fitting rooms not open in clothes shops?

That’s grim.
But hey, shitting ok the beach is normal these days. What a time to be alive.

No changing rooms aren't open. I expect she couldn't be bothered to have to potentially have to return it another day making another trip to town necessary.
It's not the worst thing I've seen happen in the street to be honest!

No the fitting rooms are closed, so I suppose she’s saving herself another trip to refund it?
Embarrassing though.

I just couldn’t.
Even in the car would have been better (it’s an out of town retail park so she must have had a car with her)

But, hey, fair dues to her, she’s certainly got body confidence.

Honestly 6 months ago I would have said she’s stark raving mad but fast forward to now I can kind of understand her reasoning? I think we’re all a bit crazy at the moment , or maybe it’s just me and the lady?Gin

Why did she not just strip off instore? Is that against the rules?

Oliversmumsarmy · 30/06/2020 14:13

There was a factory shop years ago that sold all the fashion stores clothing at a discount price.

It was only open on a Saturday morning.
There were no changing rooms so you just stripped off and tried the clothing on between the racks.
No mirrors either so it was up to your friend to say whether it looked ok.

And yet plenty of men are walking around with no shirts on and no ones saying any thing...

Wouldn't do it myself but can see why.
I bought a dress in h&m last week, must have put on some lockdown pounds as it didn't fit. Went back to change it 2 days later not realising that they don't open til 10.30 now so now I have to go back to town again.
Maybe I should have just tried it on outside the store 🤔

Aren't public toilets open? Wouldn't you go in there to try it on?

HoneyBee03 · 30/06/2020 14:28

This sounds very odd. I'll try something on in a quiet area of the shop if changing rooms aren't open, but there's no way I'd be stripping down to my undies outside.

Assuming she bought it and wanted to exchange there and then if didn't fit as a pp said, I think it's kind of fair enough! Maybe she needed it urgently. Whatever is returned has to be quarantined anyway so makes no difference whether it comes back immediately or not.

Even easier than that just wear a pair of shorts or a skirt with leggings and a sports top underneath your top. Can remove top layer then whilst still being dresses and shove dress on over top

You can't try stuff on, so she would have had to buy it and then do it in the store, the store are likely to have their own rules on that, there is nothing wrong with doing it outside.

It's mad but I can kind of see her logic. Maybe the shops need to open their changing rooms again.
