Oh shit, I forgot my anniversary!

Due to having my head up my arse and feeling miserable about... everything, I've totally forgot its mine & DP anniversary the weekend, weve only been together two years, lived together since the get go pretty much and jesus, its been a testing two years, even more a reason to mark the occasion.

I totally forgot all about it and now I'm having abit of a flap because I've got no card, ordered nothing in the way of gift - all the "personalised card" websites are saying up to 5 days for delivery, and DP is a difficult man to buy for at the best of times gift wise...

Help mumsnet, what can i do before the 7th/on the 7th to make it special?!

...obviously the last minute "book somewhere nice" option isn't an option Blush

Just to mention, my cooking is crap and I've been trying to cut down on our alcohol intake, which has been way too high....

Help!

Buy a card from the supermarket.
Put together a hamper of delicious treats.

Make a book of vouchers for things you can do after lockdown....a meal in a favourite restaurant, a spa trip, a beach picnic etc

Buy a photo frame and frame a lovely pic of you both

Order a lovely dinner from a local restaurant

Thank you for suggestions, a hamper might do the trick, but i have already done that in the past so I feel a little bit like its lazy!

Worse things is, i only clocked it when I went to go in his van earlier and he was really cagey about it, and had to move something sharpish, I spent half an hour wondering before I thought - oh my gosh, I know exactly whats going on, it's our anniversary and his natural hiding place would be the van I would never usually go in (unless he's got OW he's hiding in there! Grin)

Honestly I'm such a knob.

Any other suggestions? Has anyone else celebrate d an occasion during lockdown? And how?!

Cheese!!!
If you can, a cheese shop hamper. One by us is open at weekends or you can pre-order. Lots of small pieces, lovely crackers and chutneys.
Wouldn't give a toss about a card if I had myriad cheese to try.

This is why we don't do anniversary presents. Ours was yesterday and we're having a long walk at the weekend.

Have a carpet picnic with champagne. Alcohol reduction can wait a day.

The post arrived one day with an envelope for DH in my Mum’s writing. I was like “why is my mum writing to DH oh shit it’s his birthday tomorrow.” And all the shops were shut by that point (I didn’t see the post until later...). Didn’t even have Coronavirus as an excuse.

We neither of us ever remember our anniversary.

It was my 21st wedding anniversary yesterday, DH bought me breakfast in bed. I cooked his fave dinner, we watched a film we watched together just before we started dating and then we waltzed round the sitting room together. We did not swap any gifts.

Could you make a card?
Are there any restaurants doing deliveries near you? You could get dressed up and have a restaurant meal at home maybe. Or if the weather is good enough how about going for a walk somewhere nice and having a picnic? Where I live loads of cafes and bakeries are doing takeaway afternoon teas that look absolutely delicious so if you could get something like that and find a secluded spot for a picnic it would be lovely.
