I'm find it hard to believe this actually happened.

www.google.com/amp/s/news.sky.com/story/amp/coronavirus-monkeys-escape-with-covid-19-samples-after-attacking-lab-assistant-11996752

I saw someone talking about that on another thread - I assumed they were referencing a crappy disaster film. It's real? Bloody hell!

tigerwhocametoT · 30/05/2020 16:22

How did the monkeys even get hold of the sample? Shouldn't the samples be in a secure place it doesn't make sense to me.

NCbutnotaweirdsextroll · 30/05/2020 16:24

Is this like a build up to telling us zombie corona monkeys are a thing now?

SeriouslySoDoneIn · 30/05/2020 16:25

@NCbutnotaweirdsextroll it bloody better not come before next year, I’ve had enough pandemics for one year!

NCbutnotaweirdsextroll · 30/05/2020 16:28

Scary thing is... It doesn't even sound that far fetched anymore Confused

MarylandMayhem · 30/05/2020 16:28

Planet of the Apes!

AnneLovesGilbert · 30/05/2020 16:29

I saw the headline on twitter yesterday and assumed - obviously - that it was a sick joke. But nope!

Absolutely bloody insane.

Etinox · 30/05/2020 16:33

🦠 🐒 😂

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/05/2020 16:34

You think that's bad - the super volcano under Yellowstone is causing earthquakes Shock

onalongsabbatical · 30/05/2020 16:43

Super volcano too, huh?
(Wanders off to ,lie in darkened room for a loooooooong time...)

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 30/05/2020 16:44

Yea, it's like Planet of the Apes - Contagion.

Blooming hell.

Dodie66 · 30/05/2020 16:44

Did you read to the end where is said the undamaged kits were still intact and they don’t think there is any risk of infection?

Peregrina · 30/05/2020 16:45

It's in India, and monkeys get everywhere.

BlueJava · 30/05/2020 16:47

*they don't think there is any infection"

How reassuring or not!! I would have thought the samples would be held securely.

whocanibe2day · 30/05/2020 17:00

Well, if they're employing monkeys, they should have expected this lol.

How the fuck are monkeys in a testing lab for COVID?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 30/05/2020 17:04

It's in India, and monkeys get everywhere.

Well India has around 130 nuclear missiles, so I hope there's at least 130 places the monkeys can't access...

Shitfuckoh · 30/05/2020 17:06

@whocanibe2day

I should not have laughed as hard as I did at this!
EatShitBoswell · 30/05/2020 17:12

OMG I think I'll join PP in that dark room if you don't mind. I don't know if I dare google that, I've had enough anxiety over Covid 😰

EatShitBoswell · 30/05/2020 17:13

Ps @ItsAllGoingToBeFine you really should NC if you're going to share info like that 😅

c3pu · 30/05/2020 17:16

It's not the Corona monkeys you need to worry about, it's what happens 28 days later...

MagisCapulus · 30/05/2020 17:17

@Dodie66

Did you read to the end where is said the undamaged kits were still intact and they don’t think there is any risk of infection?

Didn't they also say one of the monkeys was munching on a sample kit?
Sumsuch · 30/05/2020 17:17

Fuck it.
I'm breaking out the Ben & Jerry's. Surely its time for the good ice cream now.

Have you seen the massive super-swarms of locusts? Trillions of them in India & Africa.

JaneJeffer · 30/05/2020 17:20

They obviously pay peanuts (sorry couldn't resist).

MashedPotatoBrainz · 30/05/2020 17:21

We never saw that twist coming. We all thought 2020 was your bog standard pandemic movie with comedic incompetent government. Turns out we're living through the first installment of planet of the apes.
