You can use a good bit less sugar tbh & still nice smile

Shoxfordian Tue 12-May-20 18:12:21

Does it affect the consistency?

Hoohaahoo Tue 12-May-20 18:14:10

If you are using cheaper peanut butter it doesn’t need that much sugar imo. But you are right, they are delicious. Also nice with a big blob of jam in the middle 😋

Weird - are you my daughter? She just discovered the exact same thing. If I ignore her for long enough she wanders off into the kitchen, picks a recipe, and makes it. This afternoon was peanut butter cookies.

SnaccidentsHappen Tue 12-May-20 18:23:33

I've made them before, big hit

TheFormidableMrsC Tue 12-May-20 18:27:36

I made these yesterday! They're lovely!

MoonBaby1 Tue 12-May-20 18:27:47

Ok, baking sorted for tomorrow thanks grin

SpacePug Tue 12-May-20 18:29:57

Ooh sound delicious thanks for sharing! Love the jam in the middle idea 😋

Whattheduck Tue 12-May-20 18:37:11

My dd loves making these so easy and tasty

LizzieMacQueen Tue 12-May-20 18:54:08

Crunchy PB or smooth?

HollowTalk Tue 12-May-20 18:55:46

No flour? Just peanut butter, sugar and an egg?

SoupDragon Tue 12-May-20 18:56:53

There is a version using Nutella too

HollowTalk Tue 12-May-20 18:58:50

This is the sort of recipe I'd expect for it:

1/2 cup butter (1 stick, 4 ounces, 112 g), room temperature
1/2 cup (100 g) white granulated sugar
1/2 cup (110 g) packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (130 g) peanut butter
1 large egg
1 1/4 cups (160 g) all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

SoupDragon Tue 12-May-20 19:00:34

Although Ithinkthe Nutella one has flour in it.

SoupDragon Tue 12-May-20 19:01:18

This is the sort of recipe I'd expect for it:

No, I've seen it and it is only peanut butter' egg and sugar,

HollowTalk Tue 12-May-20 19:10:55

I shall have to experiment! Basically it's just cooked, sweetened peanut butter, then?

SoupDragon Tue 12-May-20 20:03:00

I suppose you could consider the peanut butter to be peanut flour and peanut oil, so flour and fat.

lookingatthings Tue 12-May-20 20:19:20

Made these yesterday but now want them with jam 😋

StatementKnickers Tue 12-May-20 21:07:27

Saw this in the Times recently and wanted to give it a go! Sorry to be thick but how and when do you add the jam?

IfeellikeaJoan Wed 13-May-20 12:36:41

Would also love to know when to add the jam!

Sereneren Wed 13-May-20 12:39:40

I've made these a couple of times now. They're so easy to make and taste so good.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 Wed 13-May-20 12:41:34

Could you use caster sugar ?! I’ve no brown sad

Shoxfordian Wed 13-May-20 15:20:51

Don't see why not @GiveMeAllTheGin8

francienolan Wed 13-May-20 20:15:20

I've made these plenty of times. They have the consistency of cookies so no it is not just cooked sweetened peanut butter. (The egg is really important.) People are always amazed when I tell them how simple they are to make.

I make smaller cookies, cross with a fork, and only bake 8 minutes.
