So has been tweeted by Laura Kuenssberg?

Yep, also have just had the bbc news notification.

Not good.

Having said that, ICU is the best place if there are serious problems. Not everyone who ends up in ICU dies.

WingBingo Mon 06-Apr-20 20:19:07

BBC has just announced it too.

Sheeeeeet.

So sad, I really hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Just saw that. True that not everyone in intensive care dies, Linda Lusardi is now recovered and at home, lots of others have recovered after a sting in ICU. Praying he will rally quickly.

MyBabyBoyBlue Mon 06-Apr-20 20:21:45

Yes, just seen the news. I really hope he recovers soon sad so awful for his fiancee too.

Raera Mon 06-Apr-20 20:22:06

Stay safe Bojo

AlternativePerspective Mon 06-Apr-20 20:22:17

Hopefully those who were gloating over his diagnosis are feeling somewhat ashamed now....

Starksforthewin Mon 06-Apr-20 20:22:27

Fuuuuuuck. Glad they are finally being honest about his condition.

I hope he makes a good recovery, as I do everyone currently in that position.

Dyrne Mon 06-Apr-20 20:24:06

Poor bloke. Am I right in thinking not everyone in ICU is necessarily being ventilated, and he could “just” need a bit more assistance with Oxygen etc? (Not that it’s really a case of “just” but you know what I mean)

spiderlight Mon 06-Apr-20 20:26:27

Bloody hell! I hope he pulls through.

HPLikecraft Mon 06-Apr-20 20:26:45

Poor BoJo

Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Lumierecandle Mon 06-Apr-20 20:27:12

Apparently research from Italy supports early ventilation when symptoms of ARDS start.

Snowdown24 Mon 06-Apr-20 20:28:22

Can’t believe it! Hope he recovers, but I imagine the chances are low...what’s the statistics for making it out of ICU?

wowfudge Mon 06-Apr-20 20:29:36

50:50 I believe.

Snowdown24 Mon 06-Apr-20 20:30:28

I thought it was something like 165 died and 5 have recovered?? Or have I read that wrong somewhere confused

daisypond Mon 06-Apr-20 20:31:21

50:50 is for Italy. It’s much worse odds in the U.K.

Escapeonabroom Mon 06-Apr-20 20:32:08

So worrying. Poor thing, its bloody awful for everyone. I'm scared.

crazydiamond222 Mon 06-Apr-20 20:32:26

Poor bloke. Am I right in thinking not everyone in ICU is necessarily being ventilated, and he could “just” need a bit more assistance with Oxygen etc? (Not that it’s really a case of “just” but you know what I mean) He could be there so that he can be given strong IV antibiotics and oxygen, plus have observation 24/7.

I don’t know the stats for people with CV coming out of ICU, but I do know that people do.

On a personal level, I have been in ICU three times, twice on a vent and once on full life support. If he’s on a vent he will be sedated. But only time will tell

ChainsawBear Mon 06-Apr-20 20:40:02

Shit. I do feel for him as a human being... And it's not going to help the government respond coherently at this time of crisis. And if God forbid he doesn't make it... there will be shockwaves around the world.

I hope he gets well.

aibutohavethisusername Mon 06-Apr-20 20:42:18

Hope he recovers soon.

Polly02 Mon 06-Apr-20 20:43:46

why are the odds worse in the UK for ICU?

Why are they better in Italy?

His pregnant partner must be absolutely devastated right now; it’s not been an enjoyable pregnancy so far
