What toys engage your 2 year old?

Please help! What toys engage your (just turned) two year old?

I'm finding nothing keeps his attention for long, is there anything you get out if you need a good 10/15 minutes quiet?

Thank you?

Not really I'm afraid.
He'll watch some cartoons for a while (eg Hey Duggee) but actual toys no. Usually he'll play for 5-10mins & then lose interest. The best thing I've found is just being in the garden letting him wander around, play with toys (trike, car, Wendy house), & then dig in the mud etc.
He loves books but obviously needs me to read them to him.

Nothing: sometimes get 10mins from play doh, toy kitchen, colouring ....it’s so difficult

Depending on what you're needing the 10/15 minutes for - my 2yo likes toy appliances so that he can do what I'm doing (hoover, toy kitchen). He loves anything that involves water so if you're in the same room then plonk him down on a towel with the washing up bowl and some plastic cups (bath toys optional). Frowned upon here but an episode of Hey Duggee or Peppa Pig always buys me about 10 minutes!

Building with Duplo, we do it almost every day. You do need to build with him at first but then once he gets the hang of it, he'll be able to do a good 15 mins on his own. It helps if you're there to coo admiringly over the things he's made (in our case, many many dinosaurs)

Colander and pipe cleaners.
Building towers and knocking them down.
Undressing dollies.
Colour sorting / matching.
Thumping her sister.

All need supervision though.

Stacking cups are a favourite for my DS, DD loves her magnedoodle (stamps removed if unsupervised as she does try to eat them still!).

Lego Duplo but only recently and I have to make a large tower for DS so he can sit and pull them apart brick by brick.

I keep rotating toys and give my twins a “new” tub every few weeks - also, Hey Duggee, Peppa Pig, Pocoyo are useful for distraction I’ve found Grin

Most played with toy in our house - even older kids who come round are obsessed with it. No batteries, can play independently, brilliant.

Unfortunately it was the toot toot car/garage/track combo. Both my DC spent hours from the age of 2.5 for oldest and 18 months for youngest playing with it. It started with us building the track and them pushing cars around it to them as they for older building larger and more elaborate tracks. It's still used.now at 8 and 6 and we have loads of sets. But be warned it is really annoying as it all makes noises .

My two year old enjoys painting himself, eating playdough, playing with rice putting rice in his ears, colouring on the walls, water play, anything with a tub that he can put stuff in, kiddie tweezers to pinch me with, icing biscuits sucking on writing icing tubes

We've got a little wooden farm and animals that she loves. She'll also play with her Toot Toot stuff for ages. She got a little wooden till for Christmas and is obsessed with that too.

A plastic sink with a real working tap keeps my nearly 2 year old entertained for ages. This morning my DD and DS played with it for an hour. You do need a good mop though!

Magnetic tiles. She needed some help to get to grips with them, but could play with them independently after a few days and for far longer than any other toy.

Wooden train track. From about 20 months upwards I could get 15 mins play from my 2 year old. Now at just turned 3 we can manage 1-2 hours play with it. Now I just need to find something my 5 year old will do alone for more than a few minutes Grin

My 2yo loves his train table pushing the trains round the track Altho he does get upset if they come off the tracks and then I have to get him started again

He also loves being in the garden and loves being in my bedroom exploring

Other things we do together are the usual stacking rings jigsaws reading etc but they all require me to help him to some extent

Thomas trains, play kitchen, hungry hippos, pop up pirate are the main things ds(2) plays with at the moment. He does like playing games on his kindle, but this doesn't hold his attention for long

I don't thibk anyone's mentioned Aqua doodle yet, a bit like painting but with it the mess. My kid spent literally hours doing that (and duplo) as a two year old. Easy to fold up and take on holiday too

Wooden train sets (he is great at putting the track together).
He's massively into jigsaws at the moment.
Building towers / playing with blocks.
'Reading' small board books and noisy books.
Those wooden puzzle things that have wooden animals/dinosaurs to remove and put back in place (hope that makes sense!)
Digging for 'treasure' in soil
Playing with water beads - sorting into different containers according to colour etc
Playing with his plastic dinosaurs
