Every time I want to go out, DH has a breakdown?!

Is this normal?? Every time I make plans to see friends, DH has a sudden emotional breakdown. Calls me up saying he feels really low and stressed out and just wants to talk to me... so then I feel bad and cancel my plans. I don’t have social plans very often, but this seems to happen near enough every time I plan something. Generally he’s fine, not depressed or anything. He can get a bit stressed with work and the kids sometimes, and lets it all get on top of him. He’s a good husband otherwise and good with the children.
