Good luck! My DS was born at 36+2 last year by c-section and we were home within 48 hours. He weighed 5lb. My eldest was born after my waters went in the middle of the night. Labour didn’t happen naturally for me. They were going to induce but for other reasons he was born by c-section.

Good luck, OP. Mine broke at 34 + 5 weeks - labour didn't start so I was sent home with antibiotics and monitoring. I went into labour two days before I was due to be induced at 37 weeks. All went well - she needed treatment for jaundice but otherwise, we were both healthy and happy. Best of luck to you!

This happened to my DD 4 weeks ago. She was 37 weeks with her first baby and her waters broke in the middle of the night. She phoned the hospital who said that if contractions hadn't started within 24 hours she had to go in to be induced. She had no pain at all and water trickled all the next day . No sign of any contractions so she was induced . She had my DGS 15 hours later weighing 5lbs 7 .

This happened a few years ago to a friend. Their waters went at 28 weeks but didn't have baby until around 36 weeks. Baby was small but healthy.

Good luck with the birth of your baby Flowers

Mine went at exactly 36 weeks, I was admitted to hospital but not in active labour, had to have 2 steroid injections 24 hours apart was then discharged with antibiotics and an induction date for 37 weeks exactly. Didnt get to induction date and he was born a couple of days later, I was pretty much contracting after discharged, 1 every hour to begin with then slowly ramped up. He was born 6lb 5oz ahealthy boy and discharged 24 hours later.

I had DS at 35 weeks, he was 5 pounds 4 but stayed with me until we were discharged (he was discharged the next evening but it took a couple of days for me to be discharged as my anticoalguants were being changed from clexane to warfarin post delivery)

I had the same and unfortunately had to be induced 48 hours later (think it’s 24 hours now though). Good luck, it’ll be worth it.

I know I sound silly but when I had my last two children they broke my waters. How will I know if they go naturally but don't gush? Do you just feel wet. Or is there a constant trickling?

Dd was born at 37 weeks. Different as I was induced but was 8lb 6. Little yellow and cold so went in a hot cot but we avoided SCBU.

Mine went with a few little trickles and then a massive gush a couple of hours later x

I was induced at 36 and a half weeks, as they thought DS was 10lb, and my weight was getting out of control (5 stone+). Ended up having a C section. He was 8lb 3.5 ounces. He's 22 years old now. Interestingly, they told me that I would probably go on to have any other children by C section, but DD was born just 19 months later, no C section required. She's now 21. Good luck!

My waters broke out of the blue with both of mine, first at 38 weeks, second at 36 weeks. I started contracting quite quickly first time round but after 31hrs and a lot of intervention, including pushing for hours, I had an emcs. Second time round, waters broke and labour was slow to start. I dilated to 4cm and then went backwards and my cervix closed again. I had another emcs after 38hrs as they suspected that it was all going to stall again and DS's position was getting worse with each contraction.

I know that for me my waters breaking happened not because the babies were ready (DS really wasn't) but because they were very poorly positioned which broke my waters and ultimately resulted in emcs. It's entirely possible, nay likely, that things will progress normally but if you find that things are very slow and the baby isn't descending as expected, chances of intervention might be heightened. This is not a bad thing necessarily but make sure you know your options and what you would choose in each given scenario.
