It is half term here - Nottinghamshire, and I was looking at places to take my 3 year old to (Thomas land, cbbies land, think tank in Birmingham are all possibilities)
Is it half term where you are? Thinking about how busy it will be! Thanks!

Skyejuly Mon 21-Oct-19 09:13:56

Yep it is here.

golddustwomen Mon 21-Oct-19 09:14:28

Birmingham here and my kids don't break up til Friday.

reginafelangee Mon 21-Oct-19 09:14:58

Last day today - we have been off for 2 weeks and 1 day. But miles away from where you are.

ChicCroissant Mon 21-Oct-19 09:15:17

Last day of term for my (secondary) daughter is Thursday so not the holidays here yet either in the South West.

Ciwirocks Mon 21-Oct-19 09:15:18

North west and no, off next week for half term

dalmatianmad Mon 21-Oct-19 09:15:52

Derbyshire, 1st day off today. We get 2 weeks in October.

Sparklingbrook Mon 21-Oct-19 09:16:14

Worcestershire, it's next week here.

LBOCS2 Mon 21-Oct-19 09:16:26

London - we're off this week.

SquirmOfEels Mon 21-Oct-19 09:16:45

Yes, south London

Wasn't there a useful website that linked all school hols?

MsAwesomeDragon Mon 21-Oct-19 09:16:53

Yes it's half term here in Cumbria. It's half term in Blackpool too (my nieces are there), but not in Newcastle (nephews).

ItchySeveredFoot Mon 21-Oct-19 09:18:25

In Derbyshire and they don't break up till friday. Places will probably be busy but not as crazy as in the summer holidays.

StillRunningWithScissors Mon 21-Oct-19 09:18:33

Not half term here, next week for us. Berkshire

Doje Mon 21-Oct-19 09:18:42

Yorkshire here, half term starts next week.

Pyjamaface Mon 21-Oct-19 09:19:55

Half term here in Norfolk

Wtfdoipick Mon 21-Oct-19 09:21:53

Also North West and we are holiday this week

Summerdays2014 Mon 21-Oct-19 09:22:55

Thanks everyone just trying to decide whether to brave it or not! Any of you been to Thomas land/Cbeebies/think tank? Would you recommend?

Waxonwaxoff0 Mon 21-Oct-19 09:23:13

I'm Derbyshire and they don't break up until Friday. You could do Gulliver's Kingdom/heights of Abraham as you're pretty close by.

randomsabreuse Mon 21-Oct-19 09:23:14

Shropshire and we're not off until Inset on Friday

HairyFloppins Mon 21-Oct-19 09:26:31

Nope it's half term next week here in North Staffs.

BikeRunSki Mon 21-Oct-19 09:27:53

Not yet - Huddersfield

Fournearlyfive Mon 21-Oct-19 09:31:13

Not off here til next week

Me and DD have been to Thomas Land, really enjoyed it. It is quite small but went in the main park too for the carousel, boat ride etc. We went a couple of years ago on the first weekend of the summer holidays and it wasn't packed out or anything.

WingDefence Mon 21-Oct-19 09:43:54

Lancs and yes we're off this week. We wanted to pop to Leeds for the day on Wednesday and there is nothing on in the city for half term as it's a different week. Such a pain.

ColdRainAgain Mon 21-Oct-19 09:45:59

NE and got another week if school here.

DonPablo Mon 21-Oct-19 09:46:14

Thomas land and think tank are great! And it's not half term in Birmingham this week. There's also the lego discovery Centre in Birmingham, which I've not been to but heard great things about.

Never been to cbeebies land.

Tutlefru Mon 21-Oct-19 09:47:27

Cheshire here and still in school - half term next week

lumpy76 Mon 21-Oct-19 09:48:46

Essex are having a late half term - off next week. I think most places are off this week.

MrsLoganEcholls Mon 21-Oct-19 09:49:23

South Wales, half term next week here.

Meltedicicle Mon 21-Oct-19 09:49:40

We live just outside Birmingham and I have children at schools in both Birmingham and Dudley borough. Both our half terms are next week so Thomasland and Thinktank should be relatively quiet with the only caveat being that Thinktank often has school trips visiting.

ReginaGeorgeous Mon 21-Oct-19 10:08:26

Thomas Land is way better than cbeebies land and Birmingham schools haven't broken up yet.

poorbuthappy Mon 21-Oct-19 10:10:51

Not half term in South Wales and Bristol.

Comefromaway Mon 21-Oct-19 10:12:24

Dd is on half term this week. Ds is on half term next week!

Pengweng Mon 21-Oct-19 10:12:53

South Manchester and we are off this week but the school around the corner aren't off until next week. I think our school is early this year though. Can't wait for the 8 week christmas term. hmm

HoneyBee03 Mon 21-Oct-19 10:27:00

It'shalf term in Devon and Cornwall. My commute this morning was a dream.

megletthesecond Mon 21-Oct-19 10:28:23

No. Hampshire.
Our half term is next week.

Tensixtysix Mon 21-Oct-19 10:28:32

Gloucestershire, not off until end of this week.

wendz86 Mon 21-Oct-19 10:29:47

Not in hertfordshire.

MirandaWest Mon 21-Oct-19 10:30:02

York - break up on Friday

bellylaughs Mon 21-Oct-19 10:32:20

My DC are at schools in Surrey and London boroughs (we live in the border) and have different half terms 😩London borough this week, Surrey next week. First time this has ever happened in 10 years for us!

DappledThings Mon 21-Oct-19 11:15:26

Yes in Kent

Whattodoabout Mon 21-Oct-19 11:21:49

Nope, mine break up Thursday (North Yorkshire). I’m thrilled because I checked when other schools in the area break up and it’s Friday so the local pumpkin patch should be fairly empty on Friday! It’s usually absolutely manic.

listsandbudgets Mon 21-Oct-19 11:25:47

Think Tank will probably be fine as Birmingham don't finish until Friday

OhYum Mon 21-Oct-19 12:08:18

Next week for DD, we're in Staffordshire.

Blobby10 Mon 21-Oct-19 13:21:55

Leicestershire had half term last week (was a blissful experience on the roads coming into work and going home each day!!!!) so maybe Twycross Zoo a possibility? Or Twinlakes at Melton?

MaryTJ Mon 21-Oct-19 14:32:19

Isle of Wight - most schools have just begun a 2 week break but some only have 1 (next week). I have two young children and at this age we do walks, beaches, parks, bike rides etc, whatever the weather - save your money! Seriously, does a 3 year old really appreciate a theme park?? Don't they always end up over tired and crying?? Can't think of anything worse myself!!

SoyDora Mon 21-Oct-19 14:33:45

Had ours last week (north west Leicestershire), back now. We did Thomas land last week and it was really quiet. 5 and 4 year olds had a great day.

confusedofengland Mon 21-Oct-19 14:54:25

We break up on Friday.

I think Cbeebies land & Alton Towers will be busy as they put on special events for half term. Not sure about Thomas land though.

Comefromaway Mon 21-Oct-19 15:27:19

Its Scarefest at Alton Towers

NanooCov Mon 21-Oct-19 16:29:04

We live in Bromley borough and are on half term hols in Derbyshire currently. We went to Heights of Abraham today and it was great - busy. If not massively so. Thinking of Thomas Land later in the week (maybe tomorrow) but wondering if my 2 year old will be frustrated at not being able to go on many rides? My almost 5 year old should be fine.

TravellingSpoon Mon 21-Oct-19 16:30:40

I am nottinghamshire here too. Have one at school and one off which is a nightmare.

Dd was trying everything in her power to stay at home today. She could have won an oscar!

Stravapalava Mon 21-Oct-19 16:55:58

Leicestershire was last week. Maybe try the Space Centre / Abbey Pumping Station / Jump Giants in Wymeswold? Also Bradgate Park etc won't be crowded.

sadmum13 Mon 21-Oct-19 16:57:19

I'm from Worcestershire and No its not holidays will Friday

TheBrilloPad Mon 21-Oct-19 16:59:24

Google "legoland crowd calendar" etc for the place you want to go to. For legoland, it's predicted to be much busier next week than it is this week, which implies more (local?) schools are on half term next week.

SallyCinnamon3009 Mon 21-Oct-19 16:59:46

We went to Thomas Land a couple of Saturdays ago and it was quiet hardly had to queue for anything. Definitely take advantage of either Clubcard points or booking online (I did a combination of the two). The Thomas bit is great but we just felt £39 for an adult was a bit steep as outside of Thomas land there isn't really much for adults. 1 big rollercoaster, a medium one, big log flume and a few other rides. The zoo was good though especially the dinosaur part.

ExitLightEnterNight Mon 21-Oct-19 17:19:40

Next week is half term in Wakefield, Doncaster and Leeds. I'm not looking forward to it though.

MillieMoodle Mon 21-Oct-19 17:22:58

Northants here, half term is next week.

Grannybags Mon 21-Oct-19 17:24:40

It is half term here (Suffolk where we are on holiday) and at home (Lancashire)

Summerdays2014 Mon 21-Oct-19 17:24:51

Thanks for the info and for your ideas everyone! Many of the things suggested we’ve done previously and loved, but some other great ideas for days out which I will be googling!

MaryTJ we will be doing (and do) lots of free things like parks, bikes etc but fancied something else for one day of the two weeks I am off school (part time teacher) and my son is off nursery.

I think I’m leaning towards the think tank which looks brilliant!

stoplickingthetelly Mon 21-Oct-19 17:43:00

West Lancs here and I’m on half-term, but Liverpool schools aren’t off until next week.

gemma19846 Mon 21-Oct-19 19:15:53

Manchester off this week
