Cat returning from cattery to new home

So my family and I have relocated and while waiting for our house to be renovated, we have been living with my in laws. We have been here for 4 months so far and have 1 month left.

Our poor cat has been at a local cattery for that whole time and we have visited a few times.

Has anyone got any tips about getting her home and helping her settle? Will she remember us? Will she hate us forever??

My parents did this with their cat, but it wasn't as long. Treat her as if you're getting a new cat and follow her lead. Make sure you have Feliway and Catnip!

She's always gone a bit wild on cat nip but will definitely get feliway! She was a rescue originally and settled in so well but we didn't have an 16 month old then poor thing!

Also, try and visit her lots more so she gets more familiar with you and your scent again.

Could you wear some old t shirts/socks and leave them with her when you visit so she stays familiar with your smell?

Oh that's a good idea! I will do that! She has all her toys and blankets and her bed from our old house so hopefully that has helped her remember but can send some clothes too! Thanks!

Butter her paws. I know it's an old wives tale, but it does help. The rationale I have heard is that the butter takes up dust from the new house and so they learn the smell of their new home more quickly.
