Please remind me to never go on an all inclusive holiday ever again!

Just back from an all inclusive holiday. Thought it would be easy with teens and a nice rest for the grown ups.

I didn’t factor in inconsiderate, greedy ‘Brit’s abroad’ into my holiday calculations.

Sun beds were all gone by 7.30am, made worse by no one occupying them until after lunch. People playing loud, shit music over the top of the hotel music, kids bombing round the pool shouting football chants, people making ‘communal’ plates of food for their table at breakfast and taking all the freshly cooked stuff, then not even bloody eating it!

I’m looking into a private island for next year. Anyone want to come??

That's got nothing to do with it being "all inclusive" and all to do with it simply being a package holiday in the sort of destination.

Utter hell!

Jesus. Where did you go?

You should have watched "Benidorm" before you booked. Grin

We went to Cuba. Thought it might be a bit better than a regular Spanish package holiday. I was wrong. Never again.

We've done a few all-inclusive holidays (and plenty of other types of holidays too) and haven't come across this sort of behaviour.

I actually paid quite a lot!!

We usually book flights to our chosen destination, then travel around a bit staying in different accommodation. Teens wanted a package type holiday this year...

This is why I only do all inclusive in Turkey or Tunisia.
Beautiful countries and I've always felt safe there.
Went there alone last time, bliss!

Because of the shit and minimal news others read, people always assume you will be bombed/attacked so they stay away or go to Spain or Portugal (destroying them as a holiday consideration for me)

I've usually faired ok with all inclusive.
This year was very good.
The only annoying people were the polish who drank like fish, literally.
So much so the bar man refused to stop serving them vodka after a small group of them had downed 3 bottles in one session!!!!!!

We've never had this experience but I research like mad and we don't go places where it's that kind of crowd. Sounds horrid Sad but I think it's just a bad choice of resort, really and a bit unfortunate.

I don't think this is because you went all inclusive, it has everything to do with the hotel you went to. I went all inclusive this year and last and didnt see anything like that.

Sorry op.
Posted before I read your destination.

People are dicks. Globally.

That sounds awful. I went on a cheap AI to Majorca recently and it was lovely. The food was fantastic, there were sunbeds for everyone. It sounds like you had a bad experience.
Last year I went on a more expensive AI to the Costa de la Luz. The sunbeds did go quickly but if you didn't use it within 45 mins your towel would be folded up by the lifeguard and placed at the foot of the sunbed. At neither hotel were there crowds of rowdy drunks. It was a very good mix of nationalities. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

Was it mostly Brits in Cuba?

When I went it was nearly all Canadians...

We recently went on a holiday that involved buffet restaurants. After the first dinner at the buffet we couldn't bring ourselves to do it again, so we ate elsewhere for the rest of the trip.

The man who parked himself square in front of one of the main hot food sections, sniffed over the food, wiped his nose on the back of his hand, spooned some food onto his plate and then proceeded to eat it off his plate, using his fingers, in that exact spot was a particularly memorable highlight.

I have never been on an all inclusive type holiday, and after our recent experience, I never will.

You should have moved the towels . DH and I were on holiday a few weeks ago and we encountered this especially with a large family group who reserved 12 loungers every morning but never appeared before 1. It wasn’t a particularly big hotel so not too many options . After a couple of days , I just started to move towels ! Torrent of abuse but I did it several times . Selfish pigs .

I never understood the point of AI abroad. If you aren’t going to go to local restaurants, go out to whatever there is in the area etc. what’s the point? Just stay in a nice hotel in Britain and eat at their restaurant for every meal.

Fairly even mix of Brit’s and Canadians with a few other nationalities thrown in. To be fair, no one seemed particularly drunk. Canadians had all come prepared with giant cups for their drinks though.

It was a beautiful country - we did lots of trips out, and the Cuban people were all lovely.

There were signs up saying sun beds could not be reserved but they were ignored.

Last year there was a lifeguard where if a dumbed was unoccupied for any more than about 30 minutes, she flung all their towels on the floor. Loved her!

We are in Dubai at the moment on half board.

Weather hot (understatement) and sunny. Food amazing! Quite a few brits, but seem to be behaving themselves. Alcohol too expensive for people to get too drunk. Low season (and stunningly hot) plenty of loungers around al pool and the beach. Fab holiday: hugely recommend.

PP the point is to lounge around in the sun and relax for me! I love AI, especially for teens/group holidays 😊

Boggles, Cuba is a poor country. There aren’t lots of local restaurants. The variety of food is fairly limited. We did go out lots, but it was difficult to even get a variety of drinks.

We went into one local shop/cafe. They had a choice of lemonade or water in the cafe. The shop had 2 types of biscuits and 2 types of meat. It was the biggest shop in the village too...

Sounds like a bad choice of hotel, nothing to do with it being all inclusive!

Report
MouthBreather · 20/08/2019 13:52

And yes to the PP. AI is great for groups. No discussion about which restaurant to eat in, whose round it is.

There is definitely a time and place for AI, but my holiday this summer wasn’t it.
