I just watched the trailer for the film version of Cats

Les Mis worked as a film. That was a good move.

I haven't actually seen Cats on stage but I think I could cope with human cats in a theatre. On screen it just looks weird.

Anyone else seen it?

Yet another incarnation of TS Elliot's series of poems. As a child I loved the poems, in my youth I loved the theatrical production, and now I'm waiting to see the film. The trailer makes me even more keen to see it . No I don't think it looks weird.

I've watched it again and I'm still not convinced. I'll more than likely go and see it though.

I really don’t see why people are weirded out. They’re basically in the cgi version of cat leotards and makeup

I know they look very similar to the stage version. I think it has something to do with the fact that they are in a 'real' setting. And they do look a bit freaky.

There are actual singers in this!!!! I'm not a fan of musicals or Webber. Taylor swift looks fuckin ace as a cat though 🙀

I think it looks ace! I think the people saying it looks weird probably aren’t grasping the concept that it’s based on a musical (which was based on the poems) and they’re supposed to look like human/cat hybrids.

I have never seen it. I fucking hate musicals. And I fucking hate Andrew fucking Lloyd Webber. But the trailer looked good. Plus I want to see Dame Judi, Idris and Ian as cats. Fucking marvellous.

The set looked too big, like they’re all teeny tiny cats

Just watched the trailer and I’m halfway between it being creepy and amazing. The cast is fabulous so I’ll be watching.

It looks absolutely batshit, and I can't decide whether I want to get drunk and hate-watch it or just avoid altogether.

I love many musicals, think most stage musicals make shitty movie musicals, and generally can't stand Cats.

I expected not to like the trailer. I did not expect it to be so batshit.

I loved the musical (before ALW ruined the Rum Tum Tugger song) but I cannot see Taylor Swift being able to encompass Bombalaurina.

The others I can just about get on board with.

Grizzabella needed to look more weary and weathered though.

Francesca Hayward looks phenomenal just as I’d expect but I really am not sure whether most of the rest of the casting works.

Just watched it. It think it will be one Idris Elba film that I don't watch. Too creepy. IT chapter 2 looks much better

Just watched it. I though it looked like it could be quite good.

It never ceases to amaze me though that James Corden continues to get work. He is neither funny nor talented.

I'm half way between its a bit creepy & its amazing too. Have never seen it at the theatre, although would love too, but think I will defo go see it. Am glad its Jennifer Hudson singing Memory, not sure Taylor Swift or someone else could pull it off quite the same!

My adult son DS2 who has autism is obsessed with musicals and especially ALW ones. We've seen Cats on stage 7 times...
But he watched it last night and said they looked all wrong! We will go and see it anyway. The cast list has to be worth a viewing!

Like someone up thread said, the cats look too small for the sets. Maybe they will fix that before the movie comes out.

But who on earth keeps casting James cordon ? He can’t act or sing.

I took the dc to see it on stage last year. I’d always wanted to see it so I was really looking forward to it.

Kids were bored witless. “Mummy when will they start ACTING?!”

I took Dd to see it on stage, we left at the interval. Hand on heart the worst thing I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot of rubbish)
Think I’ll be giving the movie a miss!

Somehow they manage to be both too big and too small. When we all know that Jellicle Cats are a moderate size.
