What has MN taught you?

I've been thinking about this today.

MN has taught me;
- Thinking on a deeper, critical level.
- That some behaviours I previously thought of as annoying and inconsiderate are downright abusive.
- To defend myself.
- That some people on this planet are just nuts.
And of course; grin
- Sugar is comparable with crack.
- Fabric Conditioner is the devil.
- 'Posh Chocs' exist
- A bath is similar to being a pig wallowing in filth

So what has MN taught you? Any lessons that you'd like to share?

-That some people will tell you are are wrong even if you are plainly right
-That the idea of 'the world doesn't owe you anything' can be taken to ridiculous levels
- that some people are utterly obsessed with cleanliness but think its normal
- that some people are hugely talented
- that it's ok to say 'that doesn't work for me'.

That it's ok to say No.

How awful some other people's partners are.
How naïve some people are when it comes to shared finances.
How much unnecessary washing other people do.
How much my DD's then undiagnosed dyspraxia could be affecting her.
How lucky I am.

What a yoni massage is.

The thing with the box on tin foil to hold it in place.

Some very filthy words.

Whatafackinliberty Thu 18-Jul-19 18:59:10

That some people are gullible as fuck and will believe any old bullshit.

MonSacEstDu31RueCambon Thu 18-Jul-19 19:00:29

Value myself.

Also that some people's behaviour on line is absolutely disgraceful. The pile on cruelty I've seen here. Wow.

VivaDixie Thu 18-Jul-19 19:02:08

The art of critical thinking
No is a complete sentence
The definition of gaslighting and how to recognise it
To stick up for myself
To spot narcissistic behaviour, in all relationships including friendships

The list goes on. MN really has given me confidence and strength so thank you smile

That you're not allowed an opinion and that Mumsnet will delete your comments and ban you purely because they are "not in spirit" 😂

ainslieb Thu 18-Jul-19 19:03:05

What's wrong with fabric conditioner?!

squeekywheel Thu 18-Jul-19 19:05:23

That middle class people can also be thick as pig shit and fall for trends as much as the rest of us.

I grew up working class and genuinely thought that you got to be middle class by being intelligent....

Jsmith99 Thu 18-Jul-19 19:08:36

That some people think earning £100k doesn’t mean you are rich.

To allow Harvest men to live as they kill/eat large spiders.

We gave it a try and it works.

ForalltheSaints Thu 18-Jul-19 19:11:12

What happens at Center Parcs.

That cups are an actual measurement.
I used to get so frustrated with recipes as how on earth am I to know what size mug am I meant to use? Then I read one of those ‘what small purchase has made a difference’ threads, someone had posted the measuring cups from Lakeland and it all fell into place.

TheVoiceInTheShed Thu 18-Jul-19 19:16:20

That there are some very strange people/trolls/perverts out there who go to great lengths to get their kicks - recent 'bully DD' and 'knicker wetting DD' for example, who knew confused

SciFiScream Thu 18-Jul-19 19:16:23

How fucking awful many men are (I've just read about the Police Officer buying porn while in the house with a dead child).

Candyfloff Thu 18-Jul-19 19:46:31

@ainslieb I absolutely love the stuff - have a slight addiction, but if you look at threads talking about FS you'll see that posters refuse to use it because the 'fake, artificial, chemical smell' gives them a headache, because it makes the washing slimey?, is 'unnecessary' and is bad for the environment.

The last one I understand!

Candyfloff Thu 18-Jul-19 19:48:54

Some really nice 'lessons' here.

@boringlyboringshockI never knew that! I always thought the same as you 'WHAT CUP?!'
Must investigate now, thank you.

@SciFiScream that is awful. I feel quite ill just reading your post - what the fuck happened there?

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult What is a yoni massage?

CrackOn Thu 18-Jul-19 19:51:16

- if you have an early dinner, it is called tea and should be followed by supper
- no is a complete sentence
- it's fine to be an attachment parent
- Mumsnet is such a useful place when you're worried or sad

magimedi Thu 18-Jul-19 19:52:23

That the easiest way to cut up a pizza with scissors!

Elmlea isn't cream

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult Thu 18-Jul-19 19:57:29

Candyfloff it's a fanny massage grin

Instagran Thu 18-Jul-19 19:57:59

Thanks to a very knowledgeable poster on AMA I learnt that fabric conditioner protects your clothes and makes them last longer! Since I read that I've started using it!
