Are there any conspiracy theories that you just think could have an element of truth?

I love all things conspiracy theory - from a psychological/social point of view it's interesting to see what makes people fearful or pessimistic.

But I often do see some conspiracy theories a bit like Urban legends in that they could be an exaggerated truth.

Are there any conspiracy theories or rumours that you just think 'maybe...' or even ones you're completely sold on.

hopes nobody thinks the Queen is a metamorphic lizard alien

The one about Jill Dandonbeing shot by an assassin as she was about to uncover a BBC peado ring sounds very plausible.

CocoDeMoll · 17/05/2019 20:14

I don’t think the US government was innocent around 911.

KarenTheCashRegister · 17/05/2019 20:14

I don’t think Dr David Kelley committed suicide.

OldAndWornOut · 17/05/2019 20:16

Yes, the Dando murder, also possibly princess Diana.
I used to absolutely think all conspiracy theories were ridiculous, but the older I get, the more strange the world seems; anything could be possible.

slipperywhensparticus · 17/05/2019 20:18

That the government is ruled by madmen and women

FiremanKing · 17/05/2019 20:19

Jill Dando was more likely to have been murdered by a Serbian hitman.

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/05/2019 20:19

9 - 11.

LolaSmiles · 17/05/2019 20:21

I dont believe Dr David Kelley was suicide.

And I'm normally against conspiracy theories (especially ones that fly in the face of evidence)

AgentProvocateur · 17/05/2019 20:22

I don’t believe Dr David Kelly was suicide either.

RuffleCrow · 17/05/2019 20:23

I think they all have a grain of truth to them. That's how they make the other 99.99% bullshit interesting enough to listen to.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 17/05/2019 20:24

I used to absolutely think all conspiracy theories were ridiculous, but the older I get, the more strange the world seems; anything could be possible.

This whilst sometimes I still find myself thinking people are making stuff up to justify events they cannot explain. The older I get the more I'm leaning towards the old adage of theirs no smoke without fire.

I definitely think there was more to Jill Dando. Every year we get more historical allegations and every year it seems that bit more likely it was a cover up.

OldAndWornOut · 17/05/2019 20:27

Years ago a friend of mine was telling me that child abuse was rife in some circles; celebrities, household names, MPs, and I thought she was off her nut....

OldUnit · 17/05/2019 20:30

I agree I think 9/11 was potentially a false flag event.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 17/05/2019 20:34

I’m not sure it’s a conspiracy but there is no way that GCHQ guy got himself into the hold-all in the bath. Definitely something else going on there.
Also agree that Dr Kelly did not commit suicide.

My exh didn’t believe in the moon landings. Or dinosaurs.

Likeamobvie · 17/05/2019 20:38

I find conspiracy theory's really interesting and feel like some of the bigger ones are built on truth.

IncognitaIgnorama · 17/05/2019 20:41

I am another one that looks askance at conspiracy theories in general, but even I am not sure about Dr Kelly. Not sure at all.

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 17/05/2019 21:41

I find conspiracy theories fascinating! Flat earth - while I do not in any way believe the world is any shape other than a globe - I find the fact you cant get direct southern hemisphere flights very very intriguing!

Bunnybigears · 17/05/2019 21:43

I have never met a single person who believes David Kelly committed suicide.

ineedaknittedhat · 17/05/2019 21:48

I find it difficult to believe that the twin towers would have just collapsed the way they did and the building behind that the BBC reported the collapse of before it happened.

AhhhHereItGoes · 18/05/2019 12:47

I agree Dr alKelly and the man in the hold-alll were not suicides. I think there was definitely government involvement in their deaths.

I used to work at quite a high profile barristers chambers when I was younger.... they were all convinced Moria hindley had not died but had been given a new identity and released from prison and that the removal of the coffin from the prison was for show! 🤔

flumpybear · 18/05/2019 12:51

Dr David Kelly without doubt
Princess Diana I'd put money on that being either a murder or she's changed identity - first is my thoughts though

As others have said, themser I get the more I
Believe money buys people what they want, and it's usually not pleasant for anyone other than the person holding the money

QOFE · 18/05/2019 12:54

Generally I have no time for conspiracy theories and rather like poking fun at the more extreme tin foil hatters.

But surely nobody actually believes that David Kelly committed suicide?

fedup21 · 18/05/2019 12:57

Princess Diana I'd put money on that being either a murder or she's changed identity.

and lived out the last 20 years having had nothing to do with her boys? Nooooo

Irulez · 18/05/2019 13:20

OOoo I love a good conspiracy theory. I mean all our secret intelligence agencies aren't sitting twiddling their thumbs all day long.....
