Well, I’d argue that all notes like this are passive aggressive. I mean otherwise what’s the point of writing them at all? If your intention was politeness, you’d not bother writing a note.

If there isn't a sign saying "don't park on the grass" then they may have assumed it was ok to park there, especially if other cars were parked on grass. You can't see grass seed very well unless you are looking for it.

Twice people have left notes on my car that were horribly rude and sweary. And both times I was parked exactly between the lines of a proper spot.
The last one was recently at a McDonalds, where I'd taken a few wee ones after a party. A car was parked well over the front of their space, and angled right over the next spot. I managed to get in to the space beside them perfectly between the lines. Off we went.
Came back to the car to a really ranty,outraged,sweary note, calling me a rude fucking c**t and to learn to park properly.
When they looked like they'd parked with a blindfold on!!

You can't even say that without knowing a lot more about the area, the driver, the circumstances.

Grass seed is not going to apparent to a motorist and might well just look like an earth verge and therefore preferable to, say, a grass verge.

Well what the person did was ignorant but that doesn't necessarily mean they are an ignorant person.

So again, straight to the point, polite and giving the driver the benefit of doubt.

I don't think comparing it to worse parking is the way to go, as it sounds as though the bar is pretty low there.

I think it’s utterly toe curling. It sounds like a small child being told off. I’d suggest that ‘Please could you not park on this grass? Many thanks’ would probably suffice in this situation.
