Oldsilver - sad news

Shocking and tragic news about the lovely Oldsilver whom many of us knew and loved. She collapsed on Monday. An ambulance was called but they were unable to revive her. Devastating for her husband and son, who are not surprisingly shocked and traumatised.

So much love going out to them.

I know she was on MN a lot, in Chat, AIBU, menopause threads among many others, and - way back - as one of the original Nobdies, which is how I knew her. She was funny, loving, generous and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of seventies and eighties music that was unparalleled. I can't believe she's gone.

Please post any memories of her below. Her husband wanted MNers to know and we'll be sending him the link to this thread.

Go boldly, Olds. You will be fiercely missed.

Oh, Olds. Dearest Keeper of the Lists and spinner of the best tunes. I can't think what to say except that life was brighter and funnier with you in it. All love, to P and D and I will never forget you.

I can’t believe it. She was an amazing, funny, generous and kind woman. A fantastic friend and the best Nob.

Will never forget this wonderful lady. She thought the absolute world of her lovely family and I send them my heartfelt condolences.

Oh she loved Quantum Leap. I'd forgotten that was why she said "oh boy" when we jumped.

Many moons ago a thread was started for nobodies. There was a spelling mistake and nobodies became Nobdies. Never in my wildest dreams I would have thought that that thread would end up bringing me friendships that would reach out of the internet and become real life.

We all tell our kids don't meet people off the internet, you need to stay safe. I'm so pleased I ignored my advise and got to meet some amazing friends, one of which was Olds.

Writing this is so difficult, I know it's true that my lovely Olds is no longer with us but I don't want it to be true. The laughter we shared, tears we shed and music we agreed/disagreed about was a very small part of the friendship.

My heart and love go out to MrOlds and MiniOlds. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. My heart is breaking as it is.

Olds I will be raising a glass of cider to you later and singing along to the wurzels. Sleep well my love

I keep thinking of the Eurovision threads the Nobdies used to do. Olds was as mad as I was on those evenings. Cider had nothing to do with it all (oh no)
