Exercise videos on YouTube

Looking for recommendations for videos on YouTube to help me get some routine exercise whilst baby sleeps!

I walk a fair bit and I'm not overweight, but I don't really exercise. Would like to build something in to my daily routine whilst baby sleeps.

Yoga too would be a nice one. I can't afford, time or money wise to commit to a regular class and DH isn't home until late so going out in the evening is really hard.

Hence why I'm after YouTube recommendations!

I’m a bit of a HIIT evangelist. It’s so quick and accessible and really does give results. There are a ton of options on YouTube, which is great for variety. I quite like Joe Wicks as an intro.

If you’re ever interested in Pilates, someone on here recommended Jessica Valant to me quite recently and I’ve enjoyed some of her videos, too.

I'm not sure I'm ready for HIIT but I do like the sound of it. Can it start gradually or does one need a good base level of fitness first?

Fitness Blender. If you are really unfit then they have lots of low impact options to start with and you can buy their Low Impact programme for peanuts and use it as often as you like. Can still do HIIT but without hurting yourself.

Second Leslie Sansone for absolute beginners (I use it sometimes for a change but up my pace and use moves from other classes where necessary so I still feel the benefits). Cheesy American as it can be but that can raise a smile and it should be a good intro.

There’s a lot of HIIT for beginners and low impact stuff on YouTube. If you’re walking regularly already, you might be surprised at your current fitness but whatever you do, just listen to your body and you can’t go far wrong.

There's a lot of very good yoga videos- yoga flow with Adrienne - floating yoga school or Jason Crandall if you fancy yoga?

I am a massive fan of Fitness Blender - all sorts on there and rated in terms of difficulty. I don't find the people annoying and there's really good variety.

Can be found on YouTube or their website - www.fitnessblender.com

For yoga I love Cat Meffan prefer her to yoga with Adrienne. Lottie Murphy for Pilates is good too.

Bodyfitbyamy - she’s really good, does lots of smaller workouts 10/20/30 minutes, no faffing or annoying voice / music, and she’s got a baby and toddler so she gets my vote.

Yep - I second both Bodyfit by Amy and Yoga with Adrienne. Also Kathryn Morgan has really super ballet classes which can help with strength and definitely flexibility

Another for Bodyfit by Amy. She's not long had a baby herself, so she's doing a lot of post baby workouts just now. You can check back for more advanced workouts once you get to be more confident.

HASFit are also good, it's a cheesy but motivating man and a lady, who is pregnant at the moment so again, there's options.

Always Fitness Blender as well. Such a variety.

I like the videos on Fitness Blender. They’re free and very low key (as in not dancing/music/shouting etc), more my speed! They will tell you if you need to do a warm up first (usually you do, but some of the stretching videos have a warm up incorporated), they have separate warm up videos. It’s free, although you can pay for programmes if you want to. Not in any way affiliated, just found them good! Also got the thumbs up from my physiotherapist which was reassuring, as I managed to injure my wrist with a different exercise video on YouTube Blush and ended up in a splint for ages followed by steroid treatment and longer term physio... Confused

Physio also recommended NHS Fitness Studio, which I had no idea existed until she showed me! I found these were good for some all in one routines, like a typical exercise video, but haven’t used them as much purely because I know which specific areas I want to focus on and in quite a short period of time daily, so Fitness Blender suits me better in that regard.

I'd recommend using Fitness Blender and spending the c£10 on one of their online exercise calendars. You don't need to do it 5-6 days a week like they recommend, you can spread it out more if needed especially if you're doing the lower impact ones.

The risk of just going into YouTube videos is that you'll injure yourself, that you won't balance exercising different parts of the body, or you won't challenge yourself enough.
