I had them done by a company who use a special green stuff to take the cast. I had to go and pick up finished product some weeks later.
They look great- a cute reminder of how little the kids were.

Just a caution to anyone not to think you can just use Plaster of Paris yourself to make a cast.

Don't ever put fingers etc directly into it. It heats as it dries. (Link shows graphic burn damage/finger loss from a girl who tried to put her hand into plaster of paris to make a cast)

It’s basically plaster of Paris so no you don’t take it away there and then. Get it done properly as they look amazing. Had my baby’s done at one week old and spray painted. They dry within an hour but best to leave overnight so just depends on your supplier and what you want with regards to how long it’ll take to get the finished product. The actual casting takes about 3 mins

We used a kit from amazon. It didn't turn out great tbh, hand is only half on and the clay cracked when dry. But definitely down to user error 😂 Next time I would get it done professionally I think

I think amazon sell the kits. I’m considering one for the cat 😻

I had both my sons done at 10 months old by a company that visits hobbycraft stores in the south west on certain dates. The actual cast takes about 3 mins per hand/foot, very quick. I waited around 6-8 weeks to get mine back but that’s just because I had to collect them when the guy was next visiting that store. I’m sure someone you’ve contacted directly would be much quicker.

I had mine framed and they are beautiful but expensive. Worth it imo!

I've booked to have my babies hand & foot cast. Does anyone know how long it takes & do you take it away with you there and then?
