Do you bath your kids every night?
(106 Posts)I usually do, but some evenings I just wonder if its ok for them to go a day without.
Obviously if they have done PE or something sweat-inducing I'd bath/shower them.
Just feeling lazy this evening.
Usually, but life sometimes gets in the way.
No it's not good for their skin
No but mine is only 2 and has eczema.
Nope! Almost 3 year old and newborn here. Eldest gets a bath probably 2-3 times per week, depending on how mucky he is (eg will get a bath sooner if he's been playing in the woods or had a leaky nappy etc). He doesn't seem to need it as part of his night time routine and has excema so it's not good for his skin. Newborn is 2 weeks old and has had one bath so far! I get that many children seem to need the nightly routine of a bath before bed to calm them but my son has always got over excited in the bath! And honestly, we just can't be bothered with it every night as it's unnecessary IMO
Baby yes as he gets porridge in his hair but the big one can easily go a few days without a bath. Always insist on teeth brushing though, no negotiable.
I am all for short cuts and give myself a mental high five when they are both asleep in bed after a not too busy or stressful evening.
Mine are 5 &7 they usually have a shower most nights and a bath once a week. It use to be a bath every night as our shower is a separate walk in one and was too much of a faff but now they're older they can wash themselves so it tends to be a shower more. It really depends on what they've been up to in the day time and what activities they've had after school. One night isn't going to matter.
I think I'm going to give DD's bath a swerve this evening. She's 5 and has been at school today, but no PE or anything.
DS is 8 and still doesn't always make it to the toilet on time so can sometimes smell a bit wee-y, so will probably get him to have a shower later.
Bedtimes just seem to be such a chore sometimes....
Toddler bathed every other day unless she gets food in her hair.
No. Usually once a week
My DDs are 4 and 2 and we do it every other day unless they particularly need it.
Nope.
I do whether they need it or not. It seems to settle them both into going to bed after. I don't wash their hair everyday though.
No. I don’t even bath myself every night! Shower every other day and a weekly bath.
7 and 4 year old and yes every night! Just because I don’t like the idea of them using the bathroom and not being clean down below.
Some nights it’s the works full onm bubble bath and hair shampooed and other nights it’s just a little bit of plain water in the bath and it’s done quickly.... sheep dip!! 🐑
Perhaps my kids just always seem to get mucky! But i hate kids looking grubby.
But if you need a night off do it!
Wish I could fast forward through bath/bedtime straight to kids asleep and dinner for OH and I on the table!
DS (11) has a shower every morning before school and most weekends but may miss the occassional one. DD (3) has a bubble bath every morning she will sometimes come in the shower with one of us. We adults both shower every morning so the kids have joined our routine. Would feel weird if we didn't have a daily shower.
2 a week max. Sometimes 1 but that is a bit too little. Also a swill in shower after swimming
Bit hit & miss with DD10 to be honest! She has chronic constipation & sometimes ends up soiling herself so of course she has a shower then but it’s definitely not a daily thing. I’d say 2 or 3 times a week on average
Yes I do bath them every night. Older child has a bath every morning and also a shower at night if he comes home smelling sweaty.
Every night.
DS is 1 and we do every other night
2 a week, max 3 for the 9 year old. Baths every night would dry her skin out terribly.
The 14 year old sorts himself out but I do sometimes have to remind him that there is this magical invention called a shower in the house... classic teenage boy soap dodger 😂
No, 2-3 times a week. I never made it part of bedtime routine as he had bad exzema as a baby so I can get away with only a few times a week (usually just to give him something else to do more than just getting him clean). Obviously more often if he's particularly muddy or sweaty etc. Far too much effort to bath everyday though!
