I've had a shit day.

I'm very unhappily pregnant, there was a dickhead of a doctor who refused to consider me for a c section without even asking my reasons for wanting one (after 3 midwives and one other doctor have both said it's fine) then not one of the three bakeries or 2 supermarkets near work had any iced buns that didn't have blasted candied peel in them. It's just tipped me over the edge today.

I just wanted to come home and have a glass of wine in a stupidly hot bath. But I can't because a) I'm pregnant and b) we don't currently have a bath.

Honestly I just want to cry and go to sleep and never wake up.

Sorry, OP, but that made me laugh. Not the bit about the CS but about the iced bun and the bath. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm with you Op. it's fucking shit putting candied peel in iced buns. And I hate it when we don't have a fucking bath Wink

Oh no! Could you have a shower, pyjamas and socks, cosy blanket and a small glass of wine? Realistically it sounds like it may be acceptable? And that’s from me who barely drinks! I feel your iced bun pain!

OP Cake (no candied peel!)

Can you see another doctor / consultant? I know how it feels to really want and need a CS. (Not to mention a bath!) Make a fuss and keep on at them, if you can work up the energy.

Has this doctor got the final say on your CS?

Also those awful M&S monstrosities with spice. There is no place for spice in an iced bun. All iced buns should exactly replicate the ones from the school canteen.

I’m with you on the bath too.

If it makes you feel better I cried recently because I didn’t realise I was waiting at a closed bus stop and the bus didn’t stop for me.

Fre chardonnay is quite nice OP. The rose isn't bad either.

Have you got icing sugar? Just make some and eat it out of the bowl Grin

Oh goodness op that goes sound like a humdinger of a shit day.

If I were you I'd just go to bed.

MayFayner thankfully not. She was just some officious registrar with no bedside manner (she presumed it was maternal request, when it is actually to prevent previous birth injury becoming worse and permanent). Thankfully I have another appointment, but it's 10 weeks from now and my mental health is really fragile due to this pregnancy, the promise of a c section and early sign off (by the previous dr) was pretty much the only thing keeping me together.

And yeah, all I wanted was a fucking iced bun - bread bun with icing on. No spice, no raisins, or peel and nice and soft. Bastards.

So no-one is prepared to say; ice buns, hot baths and even a normal glass of wine is almost infinitesimally unlikely to harm your unborn. Your fear of childbirth is the issue that you need to seek help with. Not being a health professional or familiar with your past trauma, I can't comment on that, but if someone / some people could help you with your fears, you may be able to give birth without a C section. That might be an option to consider.

emmylousings I am not giving birth without a c section. The ramifications would be horrific. I almost killed myself last time, I couldn't live like that permanently. I was very lucky my issues got resolved to give me an acceptable standard of life, I'm unlikely to be so lucky again.

So it isn't a fear of child birth but a fear of life changing injury and disability.

OP I stood in Waitrose cafe practically stamping my feet because I wanted a lemon and sultana Danish and they had run out. I clearly made more fuss than I realised because the man in front of me in the queue disappeared for a mo and came back with one he had taken off the shelf. He was a store manager. Didn’t know whether to Grin or Blush.

I’m not even pregnant.

Wow, in which case. overagain your situation is way and above anything in my realm of knowledge or experience; one wonders how you had the courage to get pregnant again. There must be specialist charities or support groups who could advise how to proceed? Some-one here will know of them surely?

Op, I read your other thread and I wonder if, if you contacted your midwife and told her what the horrible registrar said, she could arrange for you to see the consultant any earlier?
Or would you consider making a complaint to PALS about the reg and the way she treated you? That might mean things get sorted out more quickly Flowers
Hope you manage to get some decent iced buns tomorrow!

The OP knows how to proceed, she's going to have a c-section. She just needs officious registrars to read her notes or ask her about her history rather than make assumptions about why she's having one.

It might be helpful if other mumsnet poster RTFT so she doesn't have to repeatedly explain that the c-section is due to previous birth injuries rather than assuming that she's nervous.

I lost it during my 2nd pregnancy when the pot I'd been peeing in for every midwife appointment was taken away by a total knobhead registrar (who upset me for reasons that I genuinely can't remember but I was a week overdue and fucking furious) and replaced with an inferior pot. I cried buckets over my favourite wee pot and kicked the car. I had to console myself with a giant chocolate chip shortbread from M and S. I'm still quite angry about it.

Why can i never find jam in iced buns like years ago

Report
64ChewsBrains · 19/10/2018 00:15

Iced buns are just not what they used to be. I craved them in pregnancy too - what is it about them?

M&S do ones with jam in them, but the last time I bought them they were dry 😩

Hoping to have better luck on the iced bun today. I'll go earlier, I'm sure the Gregg's usually sells them.

I craved them last pregnancy too, no idea why.
