The police just came 12am woke me, DH and baby up by banging and shining torch into our uostairs window- claims of a phone call saying there had been a domestic
Then they asked for our details :s why would they need them? Scared to go back to sleep!

It will be the wrong address. This happened to us several years ago. There is no need to be scared.

Friends of ours were on holiday.

Police went to their house for whatever reason, got no reply so put in their reinforced front door and frame to gain entry. Turned out they should have been in the next street.

Irony is that our friend is a police officer.

They said the phone who called was registered to our address so maybe a previous tenant?

We had that a few months after we moved in here - 2 x police officers at our door and a guy whose badge said he was from social services.

It was a huge shock but they checked the house and left once they realised everything was ok and we told them roughly where the previous tenant had moved to. Turned out a call was made from a mobile the previous tenant still had registered at our address.

You just have to hope that the person who did actually make the call or who the call was about gets the help needed.

I hate to ask - but were they definitely police?

We had the police knock for DH once asking for him. He was out but our friend was at ours. She was asked to describe him but it turns out they were looking for someone of the same name but different description.

The police also knocked checking what my address was (?!?). Had something to do with a neighbour who did explain why but I never did quite understand.

I had this at about 1am one Friday. Was I ok? Where was OH? Where are the kids? I was obviously flustered and wondered why they were there....
Was I Holly? errr... no! Is this 87 Hendon Street? No this is 87 Grendon Street.

I ofetn think about "Holly" and hope she is ok, I think of her desperation for the police to get to her and them wasting time at my house.

I had the police almost break into my house - welfare check with wrong address. If I didn't come home when I did they would have. Mistakes happen!

They were definitely police, car was outside the door.
Hope it doesn't happen again

Had the same but during the day. They were banging on the door and my partner answered it. They asked him where I was and then the woman came straight upstairs to me while the man stayed with my partner. Our little girl started freaking out (hates uniforms) so he closed the door but stood close by, turns out it was the wrong address and because I spoke English and my phone didn’t ring when they tried to call back the number that rang through, they left. The woman who called in didn’t speak English very well so that helped confirm things. It was scary and I was shaking but I often think of who they were meant to go to and if they are ok. Just glad they didn’t need to break the door down lol
