Corsage wedding

Going to a friends wedding next weekend, do you think I should still order buttonhole and corsage for handbag as I always did few years ago? Do most guests still buy there own, thinking will look underdressed and like don't know how to look for the occasion if I don't buy them.

Aren’t they traditionally worn by the bridal party only, not the guests?
Buttonholes for the men and corsages for the women?

Most weddings I was at 5+ years back, all guests bought there own in advance to match their outfits. Just checking that's still the case.

I've never worn a corsage, and I've had a decade of several weddings a year. I've never known anyone else to wear them either, other than maybe mothers of the bride and groom.

I've only ever seen the bridal party wear them

You are right OP, we always used to buy a button hole if we were going to a wedding (in the 90’s), but I’m not sure it’s the done thing now. Shame

Up here in Scotland I think it's definitely still more the case, do you mean like one for handbags as well, that's what I was meaning

We used to do it too but I’ve not been to a wedding in ages.

I think it is a regional thing, it's not something I encountered here down in the south of England but when I was in the north east for a while I was staying with friends who went to a couple of weddings and there it was normal.

I've never heard of that as an adult and I'm 40.

Think best to just go for it then!!

I've never got one for a wedding in Scotland. The only folk I've seen with them are the over 70s

A corsage attached to your clutch is a bit outdated, even in my part of Scotland. It only seems ladies of a certain age still do it.

Oh now... I've got a nice big hat with flower on brim of it, think that would be ok then? And save the hassle of getting corsage on day?

I think that would be much nicer. Enjoy your day! 👒🌸🌺

Bridal party only.

I think you'd look a bit outdated with a corsage and flower thing for the handbag personally.

I don't know, when I got married 6 years ago a couple of my friends had them. West Midlands close to welsh border. Maybe not he done thing by all but I don't think it causes any harm either - I think they're pretty :)

Its definitely still been the done thing at the Scottish weddings I've been at recently. Young and old. These are probably more "country" weddings if that makes a difference. Go for it, it's a nice touch.

Ordering one for handbag now, "finishes" off the ensemble nicely for a wedding, that extra touch you've shown a bit more effort. I had thought about a wrist one but maybe a bit too fancy! Thanks again

Just spoke to the couple this morning, and they said more than happy (actually they would expect us to wear them to look weddingy), so hope this clears up things for others too! SmileSmileWine

We got corsages for all guests. Double red roses for groom best man and father of bride. Single red rose for ring bearer. White corsage for mother of bride. Ivory corsage for mother of groom. And carnations for the rest of the guests.
I think it looks cheap to not give all guests a flower to wear.

2 pink lilies for handbag, red carnation buttonhole and an orange gerbera wrist corsage for daughter.

And they expected this, you say? Bit cheeky, tbh
