Disgusting things you've found in food (and been too polite to say anything)

A friend we don't see very often invited us over for dinner. She made a enormous disgusting pot of chicken stew. As my DS was gamely working his way through it, there was a huge, floppy legged spider all limp at the bottom of the bowl. He just pushed it aside under a bit of potato and kept quiet (though refused seconds).

My MIL served up boiled to buggery broccoli (as usual) with a very overcooked earwig.

Another friend got a teapot out of a cabinet (she got the best china out, unfortunately for us) and when I offered to make the next pot and was emptying the teabags, out came one of those huge housespiders. We'd drunk the whole pot Envy (not envy).

I've also had a green caterpillar in a store-bought salad and my DM once opened a jar of Nivea to find a whole fingernail in it.

What is the recommended amount of time to cook an earwig?

Eyelashes and eyelid in a mince pie. In the 80's. Still makes me gag thinking of it.
